It would be an abomination if they ported dvd era masters to uhd.

I think it would be more accurate to class them HDTV era transfers, as they aren't SD like DVD invokes... But I agree. At any rate JPI is confirmed to have a current 4K scan. So w/e. That's all I 'need'

That's ideal but you know how these things work: when you don't like something you start looking for reasons to try and explain that. Sometimes those reasons are accurate, and sometimes they're just excuses you find, 'casue we don't all have the storytelling knowledge required to actually zero in on the real story, acting, tone or whatever problems the film has. And then there's personal taste and sensibilities, which I think happens to be the most important factor and can cloud objective judgement when analyzing the film. So far I have to stick to my reasons for Mindhunger, they make sense to me.
By the way, it's fine that your brother loved it but I could also add that the person I saw it with was just as bored as me.

I totally agree with that, unfortunately I thought they didn't give him much to do in the couple of episodes I saw. And of course I cannot agree about the rest.

It is interesting to note however that the artwork on the discs in this new 25th anniversary boxset appears to be different to that of the 2015 boxset. At least judging by these pics (these are the UK boxsets by the way):
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Jurassic-An...c+park+blu+ray
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Jurassic-Pr...c+park+blu+ray

Not sure if that's an indication of anything though. Could be the same old discs with new artwork to match JW I guess. Or perhaps it's even not the finished artwork? Only time will tell.
I don’t think the different artwork means anything, they did the same thing for the Back to the Future Trilogy 30th Anniversary set but they were the same old discs.

Is there any word on separate releases? This set sounds great (minus JW) but don't want to spend a ton of money on discs that are not even properly stored.

Hate to say this but given the little information and “confirmation” we have so far, these “remasters” for all four films sounds very in-house. I’d be a lot more comfortable if I heard that Spielberg worked closely with remastering the first more importantly. But the fact all four movies were announced for 4K format, it makes you wonder if Spielberg was involved at all for his respective films. Not to mention there still isn’t any form of press release information for these so far from Universal themselves.

Other films like ET and Saving Private Ryan were given a emphasized captions on the fact they were remastered from its original source (even on the front or back of its packaging it states that to detail) but Jurassic Park Blu-Ray’s never had those mentions since it’s first Blu-Ray release! It wasn’t until the 3D version came out we discovered through the f(x) article they scanned the original negative as a source to not only convert it to 3D but remaster and colour correct the film. It makes you wonder why these steps weren’t even aforementioned the first time! (mins the 3D of course).

Just how exactly are they remastering it??

lol Sigh.... PSA.

Jurassic Park has ALREADY had a recent scan done from it's film elements in 2012. That above post and others ignoring that fact for fearful reactions is born of utter, incorrect speculation

I don't think that's necessarily an indication of Spielberg not being involved. All four movies are obviously getting released in 4K to tie in with the upcoming Jurassic World 2. In that sense it would be weird if only the first one got a 4K release.

I received confirmation from Zoom UK on Twitter that the first three are fresh scans from the original negative. We know they 4K scanned JP1 in 2013. As for the 2nd and 3rd, whether they are fresh 4K scans or fresh 2K scans, which will then be upscaled for UHD to save money, I cannot tell.

Jurassic World is a confirmed upscale; hopefully from the 2.4K final digital master. So, there'd be subtle improvement there. It looks quite detailed on BD anyway, just the colour grading is uninspiring and feels synthetic for the most part.

To be perfectly honest I get a little bit nervous when hear that something is "director approved" these days, so Universal just remastering them from the oneg is good enough for me.

That's good to hear. But wherefore is an official, full-blast announcement of this? I just can't really get optimistic about this until there are some official details about the kind of transfers we are getting here.

Not sure if someone posted this already but Walmart dropped the price to 49.96 for the box set.

Wasn't really considering this but for that price it's an easy pre order. Hopefully the transfers are worth it.
