Can’t wait for the Blu ray.
I'd pay $100 bucks for a 4K copy right now if it meant I didn't have to wait until August, I can't wait.

God DAAAAAMN this film is so friggin’ good!
I think once the shock factor dies off, it’s actually better on repeat viewings

Going for a 4th IMAX tomorrow afternoon (doubling up with Tully and maybe I Feel Pretty...they free and depends how showtimes align. Heck may do a 5th Avengers lol)

I figured they were meant to be a pair, and that eventually it was possibly going to be Odin (or even Adam Warlock) who would fight Thanos with "the other" Infinity Gauntlet.

Once upon a time, I even modified the MCU wikipedia page to specify that the gauntlet in Odin's vault was right-handed, and someone immediately changed my submission, deleting that detail, as if to hide it (Marvel operatives maybe?).

So anyway, how did Eitri the giant-dwarf create the one for Thanos, when there was already a right-hand version of it? Did he create that one as a model for Odin, but it never truly worked? Seems like there is a backstory that needs to be told.
Maybe Hela’s ‘fake’ was in reference more to the stones.

I tried with the DC films but man did they suck. I enjoyed BvS but hated everything else, Wonder Woman included. I like WW because of Gal Gadot but that's about it, wasn't digging the movie itself.
I hope they can decide something & stick with it. I don't mind minor tweaks. I guess I was into Snyder's vision that WB quickly veerd from? I'm with you on WW. While I didn't hate it, it just never pulled me in; I didn't buy into any of it so it really wasn't for me. I love MOS, followed by BvS & that's really the only ones I return to & will continue to rewatch. Those are a real treat for me & knowing that I'll probably never get anything like them again makes me treasure them even more. I've not really been that thrilled with the Marvel movies. I did like Winter Soldier & still love the first GotG but there's no denying that I was into Infinity War & Thanos. I'd also like to say that Cap/Nomad was seriously BA in the film & by far my favorite portrayal of him on screen so far. I hope they keep him this way till they recast the role.

Here’s my theory, after watching the movie for a second time:

I think the Infinity Gauntlet was originally created for Odin, back when he and Hela were taking over. But somehow the gauntlet that was made was not fully functional or a prototype maybe. And I guess whenever Odin changed his ways, he decided to stop his pursuit of it and just kept the gauntlet. That’s why Hela calls it “fake”. And since there was already a mold of the gauntlet already, that’s how the Giant Dwarf (forget his name) was able to make it for Thanos.

Regarding Hela's comments about Odin's gauntlet: Could it not be as simple as her calling it fake because it didn't have any stones in it? I mean, could the idea for an Infinity Gauntlet have already existed in the past and Odin sought to create it but only got as far as getting the base gauntlet forged? Presumably it's just a regular gauntlet without the stones?

Seems likely as the gauntlet is nothing else but just a metal glove without the stones.

I believe the Gauntlet Odin had, may have been a prototype, or fully functional. But in no way was in the trueninfinity Gauntlet as it showed all stones, thus that aspect being 100% fake, at least.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Etri was making a set of Gauntlets, but stopped at just the right hand one, when Odin changed his ways as you say, and didn’t complete the left one, until Thanos made him

Besides, if Thanos had the gauntlet for a long period of time, why would he have waited so long to go after the stones?

We'll at least people are starting to recognize the X-Men Universe isn't alone when it comes to inconsistencies and continuity errors.
Hmmm... but after the events of Dark World Loki was living it up in Asgard, exiling Papa Odin on Earth, and after Age of Ultron Thor was busy searching the galaxy trying to find the stones, ending up in all sorts of bother as we saw at the start of Ragnarok. They don't seem to need God-killing weapons every week so it's not beyond the realms (heh) that they wouldn't check in on Nidavellir every five minutes, even if they weren't being ruled over by Loki-as-Odin, and if everyone but the little big fella at Nidavellir was wiped out with no way to leave the planet then who could've raised the alarm anyway? I know Heimdall sees all but y'all may remember that Loki kinda fired him and put Skurge in charge, and as we all know Thor has an email address but no computer

I really don't see this as some major boo-boo, or even a minor one for that matter. If folks wanna start decrying this as the end of days then go right ahead, but the timeline checks out to me because of the events of Dark World occuring very early on in Phase 2, plus Thanos' established M.O. of sending out his acolytes to hunt down the stones for him...which didn't work out so well. (What seemed to be a throwaway gag in Ragnarok ("Fake!"), one designed to placate those who glimpsed the Gauntlet in Odin's vault in Thor 1, actually sets up that the real Gauntlet was indeed made in the Nine Realms, which is kewl IMO.) And with the events of Civil War causing a major rift in the Avengers, plus the subsequent death of Odin and the destruction of Asgard, Thanos decided that now's the time to strike.

[edit] The stinger at the end of Ultron is more a symbolic show of bravado by Thanos (one for the audience rather than being a truly diegetic moment), for if we're going to REALLY start complaining about the whys and wherefores of the Gauntlet timeline then why the **** didn't Thanos just attack right after the events of Ultron? Why has this become a problem now?

It wasn’t clearly stated, by Etri, to have been made to ‘harness the power of the stones’ so without them it’s likley just a fancy glove. With no power in and of itself.

Is it fair to say that MCU's Thanos is a great character but a weak villain at the same time?

That’s my agrument too.

ITs just a Gauntlet, not the real Infinity Gauntlet as the ‘infintiy’ is withint the stones

Am curious as to how you define a villian and thus Thanos ring a weak one.

I see him as a perfect villians - he’s a foe and won. Only Zemo won, of a sorts, previously. Thus he is the 2nd best villian IMO.
A great villian to me, is one that doesn’t lose. (Nolan’s Joker is another ‘great’)

The likes of Loki, Killmonger and Vulture are great but in no way the sameness league of Thanks. They were more enjoyable and we’ll executed.

Well we never really saw what Thanos was like before he had the stones. But apparently he was very feared and one of the most powerful beings in the universe even before he gathered all the stones. At least that’s the impression we get from Gamora, Nebula, Ronin...etc.
