I remember seeing The Matrix DVD shown in some tech fair back in 1999 and that was my reaction to the PQ and AQ:

I'm gathering from what I see on Best Buy's website this is another Blade Runner type of release (i.e, extremely limited in-store availability)

I'll probably wait for a price drop but just in case I crack, are there any retailers at all carrying it tomorrow? Looks like Best Buy is off the table. I guess we're down to Target and Walmart.

I just finished this one. All my concerns about clipped highlights from the iTunes 1080p/SDR version are totally gone here. I think this might be my new demo disk. It's immaculate. Even the VFX hold up way better than I thought they would upscaled. Warner and Bill Pope knocked this one out of the park.

Uh, the grain is supposed to be there. It was shot on film, and then they intentionally crushed the blacks and added more grain.

Yeah, they're probably just gonna upscale it. I don't think they could redo the fake grain at this point. I'd imagine it'll probably look fine.
