That whole transfer is nothing short of immaculate.

Which makes me want to punch walls after seeing how uneven JP1 was--and how outright awful the transfer is for JPIII.

Just when are you guys going to realize that's just how JP III looks?

It was ugly in the theater.
Complaints about the DVD to BD now to UHD. Every. Single. Time.

When you see it at the right size, in a black velvet cave, then you'll REALLY love that aspect!

So because it looked bad theatrically and on all formats we should like it because it’s never looked good? I don’t buy that. There are plenty of movies that have never looked good on home formats that now do. JP III looks like an upconverted DVD with HDR. For whatever reason Universal clearly did not put in any effort on III, and JP1 was minimal. Many people here feel 50% of the set sucks. God forbid people complain on a thread that’s purpose is discussing the presentation of the discs that we bought.

Jurassic Park III: Is that really true anyway (it looked bad in theatres)? Another user wrote it looked lovely back then!
Maybe the projection of PeterTHX' theatre screening just was bad.

Just finished The Lost World. I've never been a big fan of the film and I'm still not, but the transfer was indeed impressive and much sharper and more grainy than JP1. Much better than the bluray for sure.

One thing I've just noticed after 25 years is how overcast and cloudy both films are. The blurays looked very bright despite clouds being visible in the sky. The 4Ks make it look like an actual cloudy day now.

I just watched Lost World as well and yeah, it's a big upgrade over the BD on the detail front. Has some weird HDR though, IMO, which I also felt about the first movie. It looks too harsh here and there, and there's some minor crush as others have said. I dunno, it comes off as contrast boosting to me at times. Overall though it's a good looking disc and since Jurassic World already had a brilliant BD IMO I'd say Lost World might be the best disc in the set improvement wise so far. Shame the movie is the worst (IMO).

I'd still say the set it a bummer overall.

Does the UHD of JP1 still have the blue lighting for the dark rainy scenes with the T-Rex that the 2D BD has?

Yes, it's the same color timing as the BD overall.

You complain that 28 Days Later doesn't look good? You think it could look better?
It's called limitations of the source. God forbid someone actually complains about something that could have been corrected.

Saw it multiple times in multiple locations, New York and California. Even in the best theaters the picture was murky and bleached looking. Sound was good at least.

Amazon had the 4K set on sale for only $49.99 a few weeks ago, so you must've missed it. It may be on for that price again, but it may be awhile, so be on the lookout.

I disagree with the praise Jurassic World is being given. It’s a bit better than bluray and that’s it.

Some scenes are blurry, soft, the grain is horrible and looks artificial.

There’s not much more detail in the faces and textures.

It looks ‘good’ but far from great.

I don't know. Didn't experience any of that on my end. The whole night sequence, when then are hunting the Indominus Rex looked spectacular. Blacks looked like they should be, without being too dark and compromising any detail in that scene. They didn't look like that on the blu-ray.

It does look better than bluray but not by a lot. This is one of the few movies I’ve put the bluray in the other input and compared. There’s not much difference.

One of my Best Buy’s screwed me out of a steelbook set. I ordered it Tuesday and got an “order is ready for pickup” email like usual. I couldn’t make it over that way until today. Get in there and they can’t find it anywhere. Thinking wtf, this never happens!

They scrambled around looking and trying to figure out what to do since it’s OOS everywhere. Eventually they said they’d give me the regular edition for free. So walked out with something at least.. But I’m thinking one of the employees took my steelbooks?? If they don’t have the item they usually just email that they couldn’t find it and cancel the order. But I got the pickup email and everything. Thinking all week it was sitting there waiting for me.

The difference is there, even if only minimal. The blu-ray is only three years old, and looked great anyway.

That really sucks! At least you got the set for free. Hope whoever got your copy, got a dented steelbook. Karma's a *****.

That’s true.

And the reason the night scene looked so good is because it’s pretty much the only scene that isn’t covered in that grain.

This whole set to me is a quick, low effort cash grab sadly.

The set definitely could have been better. But, considering the price, and how much I like the movies, I think i'll live.

Ok I’ve gotta say it. After many posts about this.
WHAT is wrong with TLW I just don’t get it. I have tried to see what’s wrong and besides maybe some nitpicks (no it’s not the perfection that JP is) it’s a great fun Dino filled movie and Goldblum is in top form. The trailer scene, San Diego, the hunt of the Dino’s, the raptors, I just can’t grasp what’s so brutal about that film.
