I received my JP steels today, took a look at all 4, think part 4 looks awesome and just took one single and rather random first cap:

If caps doesn't do a comparison by then, I think I'll do one tomorrow.

Thanks was waiting for some JW screenshots. Got one without CGI involved?

Caps is maybe doing a comparison tomorrow, I heard.

That's EXACTLY the kind of shot I'm thinking about when I praise JW's UHD like I do, it may not look like much if seen at 1080 rez (remember to click to embiggen them, kids!) but all the little peoples in the park are so much better defined, not just in terms of spatial resolution but chroma resolution also. Yummy....and that's just a CG shot!

Sorry, but it's too late for me now. So it will be caps with World as well then I guess. If there ain't one at caps when I get home tomorrow, I think I'll do one, if there is, it will be Potter 4 tomorrow I guess.

I agree but I don't think studios are entirely to blame. Any transfer darker than previously will get accused of black crush, and any transfer where the white point isn't pure white will get accused of having been "Ritrovata'd" or similar.

Changed my mind - at least two more:

It's hard to tell whether there is or isn't CGI nowadays, but I guess the second should be fine. (But Geoff will have to do without mouse-over.)

I'd also like to point out that I thought and said it looked better than the BD before looking at the caps - really a lovely looking disc.

Minding all of that, concerning that UHD release of JP 1, is it still possible to sit and enjoy the movie? i think it is!

could have been worse, could have been better. Lets say its a good blu-ray !

or you can just stick to 2011 blu-ray ! and enjoy it too !

Is Universal lazy crap machine? Yep probably !

that said, sometimes it's just nice to sit, pop the disc, enjoy the simple thrill.

I'm pretty sure, all of us enjoyed watching it in DVD over and over ! DVD !!

3D blu-ray is outrageous in many ways ! textures a gone, black crushed, grain gone , junctions of cut pieces to create 3D are visible and not beautiful.. Even if , seen in 3D, it's cool, 3D convertion is destructive.

I guess we are still waiting for the perfect release, like kids waiting for christmas. What happens the day we get it? everything's gone. no more waiting, hoping, arguing.

Thanks Universal, for making this thread this alive !

The director of photography should be involved, always when doing a new remastering in 4K and in 2K.
Only the very best original sources/prints should be used. And he should be paid well by the studios if we are going to lay down our cash/plastic.

This is obviously a money grab from Universal, a job half done, precipitated in advance of the next JP @ the theater. It's a business strategic move, the norm. The ultimate choice rest in our wallets now or later when the six films show up in new 4K transfers or in 8K. ...Or both, now and for the next installment...the sexology of T-Rex (6). Because after all it's only money, our money, and we all are used to it. Proof? How many times did you buy JP since it came out on VHS and Laserdisc? ...Sex six for me, and probably three more times before I expire for good, became instinct.

I think JP4 (Jurassic World) looks pretty splendidly polished on Blu-ray, and the 3D BR version is no small peanuts in its more cinematic dimensionsal immersion.
T-Rex in 3D is scarier than in 2D, definitely.

To 4K or not to be, that, is the question.

Jurassic World does have some great 3D. The bit when the I-Rex is chasing the kids and chomps down right when they jump off the waterfall is one of my favorite 3D moments in any movie.

But the UHD wins.

Very rude way to talk about Sir Richard Attenborough.

Really enjoyed the Jurassic World 3D too, the UHD is nice tho one of the better looking UHD's I've bought at least. My wife even commented how nice the picture was which doesn't really ever happen

So with PQ we got (Out of 5):

JW: 5.0
TLW:JP: 4.0
JP: 3.5
JW3: 3.0

An average of about 3.9 or 7.8 out of 10. Not Bad. Factor in 4.5 on average for AQ and it's a decent set for $50.

So what's the next catalog title being released from Universal? Jaws, Back to the Future Trilogy, Fast and the Furious 1-5?

Based on CAH screnshots, looks like 2 and 4 look good and 1 and 3 not so good.

Sounds about right. I think JP1 is enough of an upgrade, but barely. People are gonna have to decide how much they love the movie to buy it.

I think the set is worth it a cheaper price. I generally agree with the words in the review but not the score. Again I go back to some other titles that received lower or the same scores like Goodfellas and IT. It’s great that Universal is supporting the format, they started out doing okay and now they are sliding back into their old ways.

The 3 to 5 star scale for video rating is pretty pointless when nothing scores below a 3.
