Just got home and thought it was pretty average. Pratt wasn’t terrible but I felt he really phoned it in. I’m looking forward to hearing the Atmos soundtrack at home and I do hope it makes enough for another sequel. As crazy as it would be, I want to see army dinos and hybrids and all kinds of crazy stuff.

We just saw it. I'd rank it third in the series after the original Jurassic Park and the first Jurassic World. It has a few really good scenes, including one really well-shot underwater sequence, but it also has some slow spots. The characters were fine, with the little girl a standout, but the electronics expert was really annoying. I hate to say that I was hoping he'd get eaten, but I was. The dinosaur effects are very good, and the music--especially the closing credits theme--is effective. As far as the 3D goes, there's lots of depth for backgrounds, but not a lot of pop-outs. There is one very brief post-credits scene that hints to the next film in the series. 3D trailers were The Grinch, Mission Impossible 6 and Skyscraper.

I loved it. It rollicked along, went in a new direction and the second half was practically a horror movie. Much much better than The Lost World and its odious San Diego ending.
Tranqualiser darts in any movie are always stupid. You have to measure the weight of an animal and it is a very careful and long process with tranquillisers taking some time to start working. An animal has to be followed closely and will fight the need to sleep so it takes ages to succumb. Chris Pratt did seem to be dialling this one in. He just didn't seem to be present. I assume it was being filmed around the time of his marriage breakdown? Anyway it was fresh and dark and fun. Reminded me of Temple Of Doom so I expect a massive divide over it. It seems lately though every movie is kicking up a stink of reactions. I didn't expect to like this much at all but I was pleasantly entertained. |

I was kind of surprised at how violent it was. I said to myself, "This is really pushing that PG-13 rating" during two scenes. We heard at least two kids screaming that they were scared during our 7:30 screening. It's not bloody, but it's violent and very loud.

You'll have to forgive me, I just watch the movies - not all the documentaries and tv specials, so there is no way I or any average movie goer would know that.

Grade: A
I really liked this gothic, dark fairytale take on the dinosaurs. The Indoraptor made for one vicious creature that provided some genuinely scary sequences with a very good amount of tension. It almost had a Guillermo del Toro-eque feel about it in a very good way. The original and Jurassic World have a magic to them that feels bright and full of discovery but here Bayona takes it a step further, in a different direction, and evolves it so that it feels fresh and more original while at the same time providing a good tone for the themes the film explores. The camera work and cinematography are stunning. I watched it in Laser IMAX 3D and I was constantly in awe of the direction and visuals. J. A. Bayona proves to be very versatile with the camera, showing that he can easily handle busy scenes with a massive scope, such as the eruption of the volcano, and just as easily make an extreme close up to a small thing like an eye opening important without loosing sight of what it means in such a grand set piece. This makes for some heavy but exhilarating sequences in which the tension just keeps mounting. It’s exciting and tiring at the same time, in a good way. The second half shifts gears to a more intimate, claustrophobic, almost surreal setting in the mansion. It feels like a horror movie in the vein of The Relic but significantly better executed. I thought it was handled very well with, again, excellent camerawork and cinematography that I don’t get tired of praising. And instead of just having dinosaurs meandering about destroying things, the aftermath of what happens in the mansion leads to some serious consequences. This is layered with the origins of one of the characters (no spoilers) and it really puts into perspective whether they should be treated as any other animal or not. This time around you can really see the consequences and repercussions of what the findings of creating dinosaurs from a strand of DNA mean for humans. Given that, J. A. Bayona has decided to use his darker, gothic visual style to compliment the exploration of those themes. How humanity perhaps went too far with science this time and how it will actually affect the whole world now in various ways, not just in our interactions with the dinosaurs. In this way I feel like the franchise has finally taken a logical step forward and away from the islands, opening the world in the franchise to a whole lot of new possibilities. Whether they’ll take good advantage of that remains to be seen, until the next entry at least. The few issues I had with the film were that Owen and Claire don’t get much character development. They’re so likeable already, however (with Claire being way more sympathetic now), that it almost doesn’t matter, and overall, they carry the film extremely well, complimenting each other very nicely with some nice chemistry to boot. The other issue I had was that the first half felt like a bit of a retread of The Lost World. That quickly changes, however, and it leads to something very different but thankfully, in a good and interesting direction. So overall, it is my favorite sequel of the franchise. While I really liked JW, this one feels more fresh, energetic, and emotional (I can’t get than infamous shot out of my head, it’s so beautiful but tragic and haunting), with a more focused path and goal of where it wants to go. The themes from the original are surprisingly advanced to the logical next step, and even though they lead to something that feels darker, it is a welcome change that does leave you wondering with curiosity where they’ll take the franchise next. The gothic fairlytale take with the dragon-like Indoraptor was pure joy to experience on the big screen. It felt very unique and exciting, definitely scarier than the previous entries, suspenseful and more horror-oriented without crossing any lines. Can’t wait to watch it again. |

I really enjoyed the movie but they killed it for me when they turned it into an animal rights movie. Honestly I felt like I was watching a PETA movie. And to think I’m going to have to sit through it again when I take my nephew to see it.

i like jurrasic world fallen kingdom as much as i like the transformers movies. but i can also clearly see the unlogical decisions made in this movie. same as i can understand why girls like the twilight movies. that does however not mean the movie is incredible from a logical standpoint of view. fact is jurrasic world fallen kingdom has a terrible script and the decisions made in the movie are terrible. there is no way around that. for me the worst part, is the girl pressing that red button. that made no sense at all. sacrifice everybody on the planet because saving a few dinosaurs lol. nobody in his right mind would ever do that. however universal want to make more $$$ i mean more jurrasic park movies and they come up with an incredible stupid twist. so excitment wise ( great special effects ) this movie scores 5 stars. however storywise the movie deserves a big fat 0. therefor the overal score of the movie can never be 5 stars. that is just being unlogical. or are you a liar? |
