I’m occasionally a tight-arse (waiting for Saving Private Ryan and Gladiator to be in 2 for £30 for example), but I pre-ordered 2001 from HMV almost as soon as it appeared on their site.
If it goes down in price, great, if it doesn’t, nevermind, it’s 2001. |

![]() I understand where you're coming from, we're paying more for UHD than we're used to doing with BD so I get not being 100% happy about that. Personally I'm okay with it though, if that's what it takes to be able to have this format to begin with. |

I've seen a few posts recently railing against 4K as some conspiracy to make us buy everything again and I think to myself "how young are these people that they've only just realised this?". I've bought certain beloved movies many times across 7 or 8 different formats over the last 25 years, the studios will never tire of selling us the same thing over and over but as long as there's an actual improvement in the presentation of the content then I'll keep on buying them. And, like our mr tasker, I usually start off at the ground floor and buy as many of x new format as I can (over 200 UHDs and counting) so I'm also doing my part. It's just nothing new under the sun is all. Bit late for that wit the UHD tho |

Pre ordered my copy. The re release played last Tuesday at the VUE West End and the film with all its debris still looked amazing. Celluloid is beautiful, its welcoming, its detailed and luckily Kubrick’s films were all shot on film. First Barry Lyndon, now 2001, really do hope The Shining and Eyes Wide Shut get well treated in the future,

Do you guys know if the 4k+bd set selling on Amazon.uk contains the corrected discs fixing the fade issue? I'd been planning to buy it for Christmas from my local Amazon (.it) but it got pulled from sale a few weeks after its mid-November release and still hasn't come up again...it also appears that Amazon.it is the only one among the major EU branches not to have it in stock...guess they're waiting for the corrected discs, but why such a long wait when the discs are supposed to be the same everywhere across Europe?
