Couldnt agree more for 19.99 its worth the money. IMO all blu rays should be around 19.99 especially ones that arent hitting DVD for the first time. I remember picking up batman begins for the same price. Also including both cuts nice job peter! More BR should have both cuts or all cuts of the films!

Yes, but it was radically embellished in the Peter Jackson version. Anne Darrow is kidnapped from the ship by the native tribe in the original version in order that she can be sacrificed to Kong.

She is kidnapped from the ship to be sacrificed to Kong in Jackson's version also.

But to answer th OP, the Blu-ray is the definitive version of King Kong as it has both the extended and theatrical versions of the film with DTS HD Master Audio. The PQ and AQ are incredible. Despite the lack of extras it is well worth picking up. The movie is the only real feature to me as I almost never watch the extra stuff.

I agree this one is a great hi-def disc to own. even if the only extra's are BD-Live and PiP.

I hope Mr. Jackson does the same with the LOTR films as well. the bd50 seems to still have 100% perfect pq and aq with 2 verson's on it.

I think I may hold off until a collector's set comes out with all the Production Diaries on it. Or when it is extremely cheap.

Just got this from Netflix yesterday so I will be watching it today! PJ's King King has always been a favorite of mine and to see it on Blu for the first time I am sure will be a treat. I rent Blu's first and if I like what I see then I buy them. So far my Blu collection has been growing by leaps and bounds and theres no doubt I will be adding this one to the collection.

Why laugh? It's his/her money and they have made a choice. If they do not wish to double dip, then it's their choice.

No need to dwell and resort to pointing a laughing tactics.

I, for one will be picking it up as I didn't grab the DVD version.

I finally got the chance to see this last night and was really amazed! The PQ and AQ is PHENOMENAL and definitely one of the best I've seen. There's so much more detail that the DVDs couldn't show and the CGI looked even better. Highly recommended

Go ahead and laugh, it is my money, not yours! I stated in my other post my reasons already. I have my own opinion. I don't laugh at other peoples opinion or choices they make on how they spend thier money.

This movie is one of the reasons I got into Blu-Ray. I was setting at home watching it on dvd and kept thinking I have to see this movie in the best way possible. So I went Blu at the end of 2007.

Of course having Kong was impossible for me for awhile because of the format war and my choice to go Blu.So I patiently awaited for the war to end hoping for Kong to soon arrive. Well it took about a year after the war but it's here now!

I went to get it on day one and it sold out all over town. So I kept checking everyday till BB got some back instock. Yesterday I finally got my copy of King Kong on Blu.

I own the original Kong, the 70's Kong, the Japanese Kong movies, King Kong Lives, and Peter Jackson's dvd release of Kong and his deluxe extended version as well.So getting the blu-ray version was a MUST for me!

Part of me now warmly feels complete.

My God! After watching this and seeing how amazing this looks, I simply can't wait to see how Lord of the Rings looks on Blu-ray.
