But those colors look blown out to me. They did paint the dead leaves you see for Halloween. They created fall with 3 trashbags of painted leaves lol. Then rebag the leaves for the next shot. ![]() Some great filmakers in the 50's used to paint leaves black so that it would contrast with the whites and greys more. Kazuo Miyagawa. I want to watch it in Mono with the film negative and the more accurate grain and original director/cinematographer intentions. I prefer friday the 13th part 2 in Mono. |

I have a question about the color timing as I don't really know much about how it works, but with a film that was shot darker in many scenes like Halloween, does this give a color grading tech more room to play with different levels as opposed to a more brightly lit film? Or does that not factor in at all? I just figured I'd ask as it seems like an interesting area of film production.

Really the MONO track on the 4K UHD is going to be DVD quality?
That is just odd, again another distributor releasing a title and they really have no business doing so if they don't know the first thing about the formats of DVD / BLU / 4K UHD Does it contain an ATMOS track? They still have plenty of disc space for a PCM MONO track. however it will get another re-issue in another 3 ish years. Maybe a foreign release will issue a true uncompressed MONO audio track |

I'm going to have to give my original Blu a spin this October 31 to get a feel for that disc's transfer again (I usually gravitate to the THX DVD, even all these years later, because of the color timing on that disc); maybe by that time I'll have a UHD player (still deciding on a "premium" one). |

![]() If worse comes to worse, I already have the Spain import Blu-ray and even that has the original mono in lossless -- English: DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0. It was one I picked up specifically for that reason. Doesn't really help those who want the lossless original track on the 4K though... Last edited by lilboyblu; 09-17-2018 at 09:14 PM. |

So the impression I'm getting from that video is that the color scheme on the 35th and UHD is essentially the same except the 35th looks more saturated.
Far from an ideal comparison but I was expecting the UHD to look like the 35th with more saturation. Not the other way round. Can't wait to get hold of the disc so I can see what it actually looks like. |
