I think this is the first 4K that I've gotten that didn't include a digital copy.

I’m glad it has the 2007 Blu-ray. I heard that had a warmer contrast. I already have the complete set with the remaster so now I have all 3 versions.

I’ll never watch the 2007 ever again. The UHD runs over it then puts it in reverse and backs up over it.

I can't think of a time I'd ever watch the Blu-ray that comes with the UHD. If it's because I only have a BD player in 2 of my 3 rooms, I'll choose a different title.

That's the scene were it was most prevalent for me, but I did notice it throughout the movie if I really looked for it. Briefly tested the BD and I didn't see any flickering in the opening scene, but of course the movie didn't look nearly as good.

Also wanted to say that I agree with some earlier posts that this movie affected me more than it has in a long time thanks to the improved PQ. The most lasting image for me has always been the anchoring nighttime shot they keep returning to where you look back at Annie's house from across the street, and more than ever my imagination was running wild in those shots wondering whether or not I could see something and just thinking about what is going on in that house. That perspective has always freaked me out as it triggers a really weird memory I have as a child of seeing something creepy as hell happening at my neighbors across the street, and it was more effective than ever on the UHD.

Watched this lastnight and thought it looked amazing in 4K. I didn’t notice the flickering but then again I wasn’t really looking for it, I usually can point out minor details so I figured I would’ve scene it. Oh well, great disc worth the upgrade.

I definitely think that the way the disc was authored is messing with my TV though as the black bars look brighter than normal at the brightest HDR setting as well and that's never been an issue with the way I have my settings.

My TV is a TCL P605 by the way. Still loving this transfer though, it looks absolutely magnificant. I'm so pumped for the new one!
You could also try lowering the brightness a notch or two also. I found that worked on my TCL whenever I had a flickering problem on a movie.

Out of curiosity which picture mode are you using? I viewed in DV in Cinema User with no changes to settings except turning off processing. After seeing the flickering in mask scene I was worried but once the mask was removed it went away and didn’t spot any after.

The PQ definitely elevates the atmosphere to new heights for sure. It’s always been my favourite horror movie and the UHD has given me a new appreciation. Can’t wait to watch again in October followed by the sequels.

We do need a list of TV's and HDR modes with the flicker

Our TVs have different modes, but I use Dolby Vision Dark (with all processing off) which I think is the closest equivalent to Cinema on the 2017 models. Never had this type of flickering on any other movie but I'm gonna mess around with it tonight and see if I can find an explanation. It occurs to me that I was experimenting a bit with Solo the night before so I might have accidentally left the brightness turned up a notch, and on these TVs just changing the brightness by even one level can make or break the look of a film.

And yeah, now I'm all pumped up to watch the new release and *some* of the sequels. Been a long time since I revisited them. I would lose my mind if we ever get a UHD of Halloween 4.

Yeah I think they are essentially the same picture mode. I’m sure once you set the brightness back to its default you’ll be fine.

I hope we get all the sequels eventually. I’m hoping Universal pushes out 2 when they release the new one.

I find they usually work as well, but you're generally just moving the slime around without removing it with a microfibre cloth.

I just wanted to say; this thread helped me get my copy. Target did not have it out, and when I asked if they had it in the back, he looked it up and went back and grabbed it. Took him 2 seconds. He knew exactly where it was. Still no idea why it isn't on the sales floor.
