Default PS3 Problem

Hey guys,

I'm having a little issue with my PS3. It's connected to an HDTV via HDMI. When I turn it on it doesn't show any picture or sound. It's just a black screen.

It worked perfectly last night. I was watching a movie and everything was fine, got up this morning and turned it on, but nothing showed up except the black screen.

It's happened before, but after a little while I went back to it and turned it on and everything was fine up until today.

Anyone know what's going on? Any solutions?

I've already tried pressing down the power button waiting for the second beep and resetting the video output, but still there's a black screen.

P.S. Sorry if this has been discussed I looked through the PS3 forums and used the search but didn't find anything like what's going on with me.

Thanks ahead of time.

Nope, no sound no picture just a black screen. My tv is picking up it's signal as well otherwise it would have a blue screen saying no signal.

Have you tried turning off the master power switch on the back of the console?

Also try unplugging it for a few minutes.

Hold the power switch (where you'd manually switch on your PS3, rather than the controller) for 5 seconds. It should reset the HDMI signal, from your PS3 to TV.

When I first got my PS/3 it gave no output via HDMI. I had hooked it up via HDMI to my new plasma and had no output -- scared me!

It was configured for component or RCA output.

Try connecting the PS/3 to the TV with other cables.

Maybe the PS/3 lost its "output via HDMI" setting. That's in the menus somewhere.

I got it. I turned the tv off then back on and it caught the signal. I guess it has to do with my tv. just glad it works.

Thanks for all the help,

I don't think switching cables is going to help. I move my PS3 from the bedroom (component) to the living room (HDMI), the only time I have to reset is when I take it into the bedroom, for some reason it is able to sense when I have a HDMI cable hooked up cause it automaticly tells me that a "HDMI source was detected do I want to cahnge to optimal settings".

I am still trying to find a answer to help.
