You make it sound like they're all pointing a camera at a screen like that crappy eye transition shot in Highlander!

If it's "standard" then how come pretty much every other Sony UHD I have in my entire collection doesn't have such blatant EE like Fifth Elephant does?

Every single Sony movie, disc, TV, photo camera, projector, and film camera has built in sharpening. Some more than others. Some of their movies look absolutely fantastic and others are ridiculously over processed. This sharpened look is what I refer to as the signature Sony look. Once you see it and what they’re doing, it becomes distracting. This is how they differentiate themselves from the competition and people keep falling for this sharper (supposed better) look over and over again. No other major company that I know of does it to this extent. I’ve owned and still own a lot of Sony’s high end products across all platforms. I’m a huge Sony supporter. But I get more irritated these days, mainly due to a very strong competition. There are some truly incredible products out there. When are you ordering your A9F?

Give an example of another Sony 4k disc that in your opinion has high levels of sharpening.

I too am very interested in hearing this. Everything I’ve seen from Sony up to this point looks beautiful and very “film like” ESPECIALLY their catalog titles.

I’m the same, but Velvet is just consistently nasty. Either that, or I don’t get his humor/style at all.

I seem to rub about 5% of the population the wrong way but I'm almost 40 and there's no going back now, baby!
