The explosions look awfully fake because the Blu-ray really brings out the flaws (like the scene with the attack on the planes that are on the air-strip)

I'm not so much sure that the Blu-ray looks terrific.... I think my DVD version just looked TERRIBLE.

All-in-all it's a pretty good blu-ray transfer though..... certainly would never say it looks like an upconverted DVD..... that's just silly

I wish to watch it but would like to see the first 3 movies before watching Id4 so i know what is happening.

Does anyone know where I can find ID1, ID2 and ID3. Will there ever be a box set for this? And I see ID4 is kind of old now and if so good a movie then where is ID5?
Thats one funny post! I think the 4 has to do with the 4th of July... But there is no ID1-3.

I was one of the people who said I wasn't too happy with it.. Sound was great but I found the HD treatment to the visuals made the special effects laughable at many points i.e when Washington gets hit, the tunnel scene, and the fires. You can really tell the cities were mini models while buildings blew up, made me laugh as they looked like doll houses.
But there were scenes where the f/x where great such as the air battles.
Just my 2 cents, still love the movie just thought the f/x looked really dated.

I think the person looking for ID1 through ID3 is being sarcastic...

Why? I thought it was great, with a perfectly preserved layer of grain. At least 8/10.

I thought ID4 was really good PQ and AQ wise. Considering the content. I do usually watch it at least once a month. I think it was a good buy for me, for sure.

Yeah, when the cities blow up, it does look really really fake. Still, great movie! Great speech given by the president too at the end.

Yeah, a lot of the explosions were done using maquettes. And the Blu-ray version details it a lot, specially the White House explosion.

remember it took George Lucas 20 years to make SW ep1-3 after SW ep 4.
So keep waiting.

Its ok for PQ. Nothing special. About 85% of my blu's are better PQ than ID4.

I reckon my VHS copy looks alot better then my DVD special edition, dunno why but the DVD sucks for me..

But judging by those Blu screens on this site the BD version looks stellar

Watching it now for the first time on my HT - dear lord, that sound is incredible. Its beautiful. Sniff.

Also noticed that the gauge on the F/A-18 that Will Smith's buddy flew read that it was going at Mach 2.5. Nice. MiG-25 speed. SR-71 speed. Not even in a dive. Straight line flight. Jeez, even with afterburners, I don't think it can go that fast!
