That still doesn't answer my question..... If Michael was burned at the end of H2. It obviously didn't work. So why would Laurie try to burn him alive again? It just would not make any sense at all. There is no way you could make it work. |

I may eventually get this on Blu-ray, but I'm not in a rush for it to be honest. I saw it in theaters on the early Thursday night screening when it came out, and while I thought it was fun and pretty well-done, it really didn't feel like Halloween film to me. Granted, I'm a child of the '90s, so I was reared on the Miramax era of the series. I felt there was something lacking in it that I couldn't quite put my finger on—and while I understand the writers untangling the mess that was established by all the sequels and clearing the slate, I did find it hard to forget Laurie's character arc between H20 and Resurrection, quality of those films aside. Then again, I'm a huge fan of Halloween 6, so what do I know?

Halloween as a franchise is all over the place continuity wise anyways. So anyone can piece together their preferred trilogy of story. It's a lot like a multiverse that all horror franchise fall prey to. I can like 1, 2 and 4.... Or 1-6, or 1,3 and 2019.. Then also like 1,2 and H20... Not saying I do, because frankly I'm not a fan of H20. It's build your own franchise. I think if you want to pigeonhole Part 2 into this one, that's up to you. A lot of us just don't see it. It's just a continuity mess that you have to accept.

So The Shape is indestructible enough to survive a fire and an explosion, but he was in a hospital where he can get treatment reasonably quickly (putting aside the 3rd degree burns over all of his body and the fact that, you know, all the hospital staff on site is dead now. Plus the entire basement is on fire). So Laurie goes the overkill method. Get him into a room where stumbling out isn't an option, where not only is he burned to death but an entire house is collapsed on him and there isn't medical help right there on hand to save him. Problem solved, QED. |

Seen it a few times now. It's a good movie, but nothing great or anything. In fact I enjoy some of the sequels better than this one. I like the 2 Zombie films better, too.

Yes. This new film is a sequel to the 1978 Halloween ONLY. Period.

He gets it. He's responding to someone who's trying to keep Halloween II in their head cannon.

When I picked mine up in the afternoon, from my online order, there were no more on the shelf and clerk person said they didn't get many in. I wish they could have done more for the special features. I wish commentaries were as commonplace as they used to be. But / for instance, I don't understand why they gather people to do a roundtable discussion and then only use 4 minutes of material. |

Obviously I know that. I was trying to argue my point. Because the previous poster said he still considers H2 cannon, even though it isn't. Try reading the discussion before chiming in with assumptions. |

Maybe he just didn't burn LONG ENOUGH at the end of the original part 2! Anyone think of that? Takes a while to die from burning from what I see, ummmm, places here and there. ![]() Seriously, a religious nut who lived around here went in the woods and poured gas on himself and lit it up, burned for 20 minutes or so but lived 3-4 days past that. He was coherent at the hospital too, said he was trying to "burn out the demon". Then the other night I saw a story on Homicide Hunter where a bi-polar girl went and did the same thing and lived a few days after the burning (not sure how long she was ablaze). So if a normal human can live after being burned for 20 minutes, 5-10 minutes is hardly a flesh wound for Michael! |

I agree, I'm not saying it's impossible to survive it. What I'm saying is if it didn't work the first time why would she wait 40 years just to try it again? In those 40 years you would think she could come up with a better plan than that. Not to mention if they were to have made this film follow H2, it would have been a repetitive ending. |

As for the second part of your quote, surely she could've found some acid or lye or something in the last 40 ****ing years, so I'm with you there! Don't recall them ever trying to crush him in any of the films either. Americans, no imagination! ![]() ![]() |

See, I don't have a problem with having the Shape burn at the end, because in this current timeline, they didn't try it yet. All Laurie knows is that he survived being shot 6 times and falling off a balcony. It makes sense that she would think he could die by burning alive in a trap. But had it been the other way around and this film followed after H2, then I would have a problem and it would make no sense (at least to me). I just think from a storyline perspective it would make much more sense that she would try something different after that. (Ala chopping off his head in Ressurection) |

I really DO understand that Halloween 2 is NOT part of the new canon, I get that. But since I like that movie....I will make it a part of my PERSONAL cannon. This means....I have to use my OWN imagination and make it fit. This is just MY opinion......MY choice.....and MY imagination. LOL. I know this is the REAL sequel to ONLY the first Halloween. So there's nothing really to debate. ![]() |
