Default "Wonderful World of the Brothers Grimm"

There is a letterboxed version on Laser Disk. Write me in private.

I'll ask Dave Strohmaier. He did the documentary Cinerama Adventure and a commentary both on HTWWW. It may take a few days to get a response. He also hangs out on the Wide Screen Museum.

While this is a classic movie...I'd buy this...if it was in a bargain bin for like $3.00 somewhere...not real high on my list of musthaves

(Uh, I mentioned I don't have an LD, and nobody gets their greasy paws anywhere near my VHS tape copy?)

I'd asked the Warner rep on the Home Theater Forum Chat (only studio that shows up there anymore... ), and was told the reason was restoration cost vs. profit--With only a letterbox video print, they'd have to start on the film print from scratch.
This was right after "80 Days" first came out on SD, though, so it was a while ago--And now that 80 and HTWWW (and 2001) are out of the way, the mandatory short-list "required-reading" Cinerama's seem to be done with...Now, there's only Mad4, "Ice Station Zebra", "This Is" and Grimm to deal with before the more obscure titles, and "New to disk" might be enough of a prestige angle to get a Smilebox out of Grimm.

(Just so long as they keep the Premiere newsreel from the Image disk.)

Walmart.com has their pre-order up. It's only $10 (MSRP $19.99). The listing would seem to confirm that it is the 161 minute version. Guess I'll hang on to my Laserdisc.

well seems pretty likely this will be a typical MGM straight print transfer, although there is hope that it might be a newer transfer.
glad to see this one coming to blu though MGM will receive a ton of criticism if it is from some ancient print.
looks like July 5th is the release date.
fingers crossed for a good release.
