I'm probably in the minority here (happens quite a few times I think ), but I actually like and enjoy it.

Also: Ghostbusters 2016 > Ghostbusters II.

Ghostbusters 2016 lost Sony over $70M, they were never going to do a sequel to that.

I liked it more the second go, with different expectations. Still wouldn't call it great or anything though, just fun and amusing.

Can't agree with you on GB2, it spanks it (and is a very underrated movie in general IMO).

I watched the last on a plane coming back from the Dominican, the snack menu was better.

The first movie is near perfect to me, the second was and still is a major letdown. My biggest complaint is that it doesn't have that certain "edge" to it which the first one had. It looked to me GB2 was aimed more at a younger audience which doesn't work well IMO and therefore loses the appeal of the original. Also the climax involving the Statue Of Liberty with that "Higher And Higher" song playing

Have never liked II either. It just isnt funny, and feels contrived at every turn. No wonder Murray and crew had such a hard time greenlighting III for so long -- they didn't want the experience of making another unnecessary, poor sequel.

And Peter MacNicol is horrific in the movie also!

Yeah, I thought he was very annoying.

The story also doesn't really seem to go anywhere. As a big fan of the first one, I really wanted to like the sequel but I just never could. Instead it kept getting harder to make it through till the end whenever I decided to watch it. Not even the outstanding picture quality of the UHD can change that.

Even as a kid I knew there was something horrifically wrong with Ghostbusters II. That arrival of the Titanic scene was cool, though.

I don't really mind GB 2016. The UHD looks and sounds nice and the movie makes me chuckle.

I actually find his ridiculous performance one of the few redeeming aspects of the film when I watch as an adult. Murray's funny even when he's on autopilot but everyone else seems to just be showing up to collect a paycheck.

I have to admit that five year old me absolutely loved II when it was released. Probably some truth to the allegation that it was intentionally aimed at young kids more than the first. And I still do like the whole montage of ghosts/demons descending on the city. The Titanic bit is great, also really like this moment:

Best scene in GB2 for me is when they're down in the sewers and that ghost train is approaching.

Btw whatever happened to this?

Would love to see that!

I love part 2. The subway scene always scared me as a kid between the severed heads and the ghost train. Nothing in the first one made me jump quite like that, mainly the heads. There are issues with it, sure, but IMO it's a great movie. My main gripe is how everyone pretends like the first one never happened. Like even if they blame the ghostbusters for conjuring up a hundred foot marshmallow man, why isn't there more acknowledgment of it existing in the first place!? Blame them, sue them, but come on...there should be a lot more said about it in the public...even 5 years later.

GBII isn't fit to lick the boot heels of the original, but I love it nonetheless. Peter MacNicol is an absolute riot.

I'm hoping that Fort Detmerring scene FINALLY gets revealed to the public considering Ghost Corps found the film footage of it and it's an anniversary year!

Did the film make back at least a little more money with home video sales?

The problem with II is that it tried to capture lightning in a bottle twice, which is near impossible.

I agree, for the time the movie was released the effects were pretty good.

I like the second one, the ending sux tho way too cheesy and lame with Murray in the statue singing, cringe worthy, and the rest of the final scene too
