Digital downloads routinely offer 24 bit and much higher frequency response - up to 192khz, both of which are in the Blu-ray spec. |

For actual playback it's pointless. Human hearing at its best doesn't go above 20 khz (so a 40 khz sample rate in digital realm) In a double blind test nobody would be able to tell the difference using the same source master. Placebo effect doesn't matter That's why CD quality (44.1 khz) has been the standard for 35 years. And even on Blu-ray the standard is 48 khz for almost all discs. Same applies to the bit depth, the difference between 16 and 24 bit on a 44.1 or 48 khz quality recording is meaningless.... What matters is the quality of the original source master |

Hi-Rez PCM and DSD definitely offer a sound improvement over redbook CD. The industry is quite content selling redbook to you because the audiophile market is a small niche of listeners.

Once a CD or SACD is ripped, I put it in a resealable plastic bag for jewel cases (I also have bags for "fat jewel boxes") and shelve it. I also have safety copies of every CD/SACD I rip. |

I think they've been doing that for a little while now. Sometimes a tiny bit of applause seeps through, but it's been turned way down in recent years.

My LLL 40th CD arrived today. Sounds terrific. A great purchase for fans of the score.

I placed my order from La La Land over a week ago, they billed me but they haven't shipped it yet. I'm very upset because of this, they have shipped this to many people I know but not me, why?

If I read correctly on the Film Score Monthly board, LLL Records received a massive amount of orders for the set when the title was first announced on the 15th (the day I had ordered it) and they've been doing their best to get those orders out first and then they are filling the later orders after that. Their staff also contended with the flu over the past week or so, which undoubtedly slowed shipments out a bit more.

Better wipe my copy with antibacterial hand sanitizer when my CD eventually shows up.

The last few years they've tried having live performers sing during the montage to reduce the cheering. It was becoming a popularity contest with all the applause, which seemed to take away from the purpose.
