Game over, man. Game over. Aliens took a different tonal shift but is just as good as Alien and quite riveting in its own right. What they were able to accomplish with such a tight budget was amazing. The alien effects still hold up to this day. Blessings be upon Stan Winston and Co.

It's a damn shame Disney will probably put the kibosh on Aliens coming to 4k disc. Fox should have released both at the same time, though Cameron is so far up his own arse with Avatar, it didn't happen.

I feel the same about The Matrix. As for Karate Kid, I loved Part 2 as much as I do the original, so I do hope it sees the light of day on 4K. Regardless, the original will be a Day 1 buy for me.

As Blu-ray has gotten more popular, and as prices have dropped, we have seen more sets on Blu-ray. Not only that, but before UHD even came out, films were being mastered in 4K and then downgraded to 1080p for a Blu-ray release. But the question is will UHD even get more popular, and also will they start remastering sequels? With streaming taking a back seat to physical media, my guess would be probably not. Honestly, I'm tempted to just save my money and keep buying Blu-rays. I've already decided not to re-buy my collection, unless I can get it dirt cheap. After all, the only thing you're getting that's actually remastered is the UHD, all of the special features, etc. are still on the packaged Blu-rays. I guess I'm starting to get mellow in my old age, because it just isn't worth it anymore.

You smoke some really powerful stuff, I'll give you that.

And Alien came out in 1979, so Aliens would cost more anyway.

I never said it was shite, I adore Aliens (shorter version ) but Alien is the better film IMO.

One of my childhood favorites and a brand new Sony transfer? That's a no-brainer.... preordered!

I'll look on Amazon but like I said, not doing iTunes. In general though I don't think people want a half-dozen different stores to manage, and with some studios not supporting Movies Anywhere it complicates things. Like I only have Rambo III in HDX because that's all Vudu has, even though it's in UHD on iTunes.

Also again my main point is there are exclusive remasters on disc, so you can't "go digital" and get everything. That counts for a lot more than just Sony's UHDs.

This thread made me check out COBRA KAI and I rather enjoyed it.

William Zabka was terrific.

For what it was, I thought Cobra Kai was actually a bit better than the movies, even the first one, as it paints neither side in exactly glowing terms with a bit more nuance depicted in the main characters.

It's about two grown men, Daniel and Johnny, acting like small children and the consequences for their arrogance, stupidity, and endless grudge holding and bickering. Mr. Miyagi would not be pleased.

Yeah, that is one that I wished they would release the first one individually, the sequels don't have as much replay value for me, especially part 2.

How is it that Best Buy isn’t doing a Steelbook for this?

It's an older catalog film, cant blame them. I'm just glad its coming out.

On a personal note, I cant wait to hear the pan flute in Dolby Atmos:

They’re doing a SteelBook for Field of Dreams, Alien, and yes, Mary Poppins for Chris sakes.
