Like the insider man said, it already has a commentary and relatively modern extras, so I don't know why they'd contact him. It's only worth paying them to supervise a new transfer or new extras, which this doesn't need.

I'm glad you're including all of the old extras, but he might have also been open to doing a new commentary track or reflecting on the film in a new interview, since nearly 15 years have passed since he made it. The current commentary track is a series of interviews he does with the actors that all last for about twenty minutes each, so it would be interesting to hear him do a straight commentary on the film itself.

I hope Kino gives us THE GOLEM for Halloween. It's gonna be awful hard to resist European releases if Kino doesn't at least commit before they arrive.

GIRLS TOWN (1959) might be in the Paramount/NTA/Republic library, along with PLATINUM HIGH SCHOOL (1958).

Would it be nice if Kino offers up a number of classic horror films and perhaps some
made-for-TV horror films this Halloween. I mean really go to town on the genre this year.

Sometimes getting an answer from a multi-billion dollars company is not easy. We just found out that our release of LINK is a brand new 2018 4K restoration.

Studio Canal is the North American rights holder.

Genuine curiosity. Wouldn’t this mean the transfer is over a decade old? I see a lot of comments where people take issues with “decade old” transfers that could use a new one or whatever. So despite this being its first Blu-ray release, a decade old transfer is ok?

Again, I’m not being antagonistic I am just genuinely curious as to what constitutes a need for a new transfer these days. I’m definitely picking it up and I have no worries that it’ll look bad just some thoughts is all.

It is. The DVD for the MST3K episode lists the copyright as by "Melange Pictures" and that it was licensed from Paramount.

Hmmmm..... that is too intriguing.... I wonder what title and who that was, LOL. Not that I expect you to tell us...

By the way, please tell me that "Kundun" is still coming???

Ugh.... that isn't the same transfer that's been hyping the rounds the past week or so, is it?

Ugh... more of those Dances With Smurfs movies.... I never cared for the first one...

Also, KL Insider...would there be any Larry Peerce films coming from either your StudioCanal or Universal deals?

Presumably it has a finished digital intermediate like most films have for 15 years or so, so there's nothing to remaster really. Even on 4k Blu movies with a digital intermediate are (almost) always just given an HDR pass and shipped. The whole point of the DI process is to have a "forever" master.

If Brick ever comes to UHD I would hope either Johnson or the DP would be consulted on the HDR pass, but that's about it.
