Default Problems Receiving Emails from Vudu

Ever since I first signed up with Vudu, I have had problems receiving emails for their email address email@email.vudu.com. I decided to go ahead and start a thread on Vudu's website about it.

Here is what I wrote:
Quote:
Problems with not receiving emails from your email@email.vudu.com address
04-03-2019, 01:11 PM

I never receive any emails from email@email.vudu.com. I do not receive email receipts of purchases, newsletters, promotions, earned credits, etc. from this particular email address.
- I have checked the appropriate boxes under Communication Preferences.
- I have "white-listed" the email address by adding it to my contacts.
- Over the years, I have tried using different email addresses from different service providers for my account (such as gmail, aol, outlook, comcast). Each time I do this, I might get one or two emails from Vudu before they completely stop.
- I have repeatedly checked my email settings to make sure the adjustable spam filters are not keeping your emails from me. I completely removed all spam filtering for the current email associated with my Vudu account.
- I have also performed multiple of other requests customer service has asked of me over the many tickets I have submitted on this matter.

I know that there are multiple other customers suffering the same problem as I am. I have seen it in this forum and other sites' forums that have discussions about Vudu.

After speaking with a couple of IT experts at my work, they agree that your email address email@email.vudu.com is not a wise choice. An email address like that sets off many servers' spam filters and kicks the email back to sender without even allowing it to go into the recipient's spam folder (added to contact list or not). I'm curious as to if anyone in your tech department ever goes into that email's inbox to see the activity of what is getting kicked back. I bet a lot of your customers are missing out on many of your advertising emails and that could definitely have negative effects on revenue.

It would be wise to consider changing your outgoing email address to one that would not obviously trigger ISPs to kick back or reject your emails. I am told this is a very simple fix that you can only benefit from.
https://forum.vudu.com/forum/technic...du-com-address

I wonder how many other people here have had the same or similar problems?

I will update this thread as I find out more information.

I get plenty of e-mail advertisements from them.
I get some receipt e-mails, usually just for the first purchase or d2d I do in a day.
The promotions seem to be the hardest to get, used to be able to do them through the tv and get them but then they stopped, then did them through the computer and started to get them again and now with the last couple of promotions I haven't been getting the e-mails once again so I give up. Luckily my sister usually gets hers and she gives them to me.

I have a yahoo email

Vudu Forum Moderator FelipeF responded to my post:

I'm going to disagree with you on this one. Once the email is sent from our email server, it's up to your ISP to deliver the message. ISPs will not acknowledge that they can block emails for whatever reason on their end. It's likely that our emails have bounced back several times when we have attempted to reach you. PM me your email address on Vudu and I can have someone check your email address on our side.
I sent him my email address and now I wait. I really don't have high hopes. I have dealt with FelipeF before. He will ask me to PM my email or ticket number and then I never hear from him again on that issue.

I don't know of any other company that has this issue. What are they doing wrong? The problem is definitely not on our end.

I tried contacting them about having trouble receiving promo e-mails but that didn't do any good. They told me the promo was over and they couldn't send me one when all I was asking them was if there was a way to avoid missing out on them in the future.

No offense, but not sure that you have made the case that it is Vudu's problem and not your mysterious email provider's fault.

Some people have problems receiving emails from Disney.

I take no offense to what you wrote.

I don't know what you mean by "mysterious" email provider. I've only used common providers many other people have. I have used gmail.com, outlook.com, aol.com, and comcast.net. I've even created new accounts for some of those as well just to make sure that the only emails I should expect in those inboxes are from Vudu. If the problem is truly on my end, what else do I have to do?

A lot of the people I have seen on this site that have had a hard time with the Disney emails usually find out that they were somehow opted out of receiving emails and all they had to do was recheck the box in their settings. I know that is not always the case, but it is for most of the ones I have seen. I even had that happen to me once. Again, that ended up not being the recipient's fault.

That's okay. It is quite lengthy. I wrote a lot to go ahead and address all the things they usually ask me to do whenever I have created a help ticket for that issue. Also, I can be a bit long winded.

I only rent from them on rare occassion, but I do get their promo emails routinely and as recently as yesterday. When I have cause to write to them I do eventually receive a reply.

There is also a number of people that have done all the steps to get the Disney emails and still don't receive them.

Maybe there is a black hole somewhere in the internet.

I got a reply back from FelipeF:

Quote:
Our marketing team has re-enabled your email address on our end. There were many email bounce backs coming from your email address. This is a trend that we have been seeing with Comcast users. Can't guarantee that they won't block our emails again.
I asked if there is an email provider they recommend.

I still think it is due to their "spammy" email address but it seems they won't address that.
Really if they see this as "a trend", you'd think they would put more effort into making sure their emails reach their customers. It's like paying for a billboard but having the font and background use the colors that prohibits colorblind people from being able to read it.

Felipe is a JOKE. He honestly shouldn't be a mod on their forum. He's called people liars so many times, when multiple people have had said issues.

Also, how can an ISP block emails in my Gmail? Hotmail? Yahoo? I figured they only have power to block emails from their own email servers, like if my internet is via Cable One, I assumed they'd block emails coming to me@canbleone.com? Hmmm.

I use to never get emails from them, unless it's for M2D, lately I've received them, mainly for credits... but the other day I received an email for my Shazam ticket... then another... and another... by the end of the second day I had over 20 emails with the same ticket code... I had to post on their forum about it... so far it's stopped since I posted.

LOL! I would randomly get a monthly newsletter, then go 6 months with none, then another... and the entire time I'd still be receiving their spam emails about other Disney crap, just not the newsletter with points.

I don't have this problem with any of the other email subscriptions I have from other companies. I always receive the support emails (support@vudu.com) or forum updates (help@vudu.com) from Vudu. email@email.vudu.com just reads like a spammy email address. I receive a bunch of spam emails worded similarly on my work email every week. Something like promo@vudu.com or even no-reply@vudu.com might not trigger these kick backs.

As I have tried other providers such as gmail, outlook, and aol, and all of them would constantly kick emails back, this is not limited to comcast. Plus, it has been reported by others using different providers.

I'm sure customer service would be happy not to receive so many calls from customers that didn't get their promo code every time they roll one out. I hate complaining about it because I usually get treated like I'm trying to "pull one over" on them for a $2 credit or 20% coupon. If it weren't for their user interface being so much better than Amazon's (my opinion) and their frequent promotions, I would be done with them.

You may want to try and create a contact in your Email service, for each of the Vudu email addresses that Vudu uses to send emails. This usually has an effect of white-listing those email addresses and see if that works.

I’ve tried that on every email account I have ever used for them. Never works. It works for things that always goes into your spam folder, but when your ISP kicks it back before it even gets to your mailbox, it has no affect.

You are definitely not the only one. I have a "main" vudu account and 3 "sub" accounts linked through UV for sharing. The main account uses gmail but the 3 sub accounts all use email addresses from my internet provider. They all worked great until a few months ago and then one of the sub account email addresses stopped receiving all emails from vudu - marketing, purchase receipts, etc. The other 2 using the same domain work fine as does the account with my gmail email address.

Their email support was useless. No, nothing was going to spam folders, etc.
Since UV is closing and I soon won't really be using that sub account anymore, I just decided it wasn't going to worry about getting emails for that account.

Noticed this more from multiple companies. It seems like only the ones I could use e-mails from are unreliable and the ones I have no interest have to be un-sub'd with their constant sea of spam.

My e-mails from FaH are blank (the message pane). Tried 3 different browsers. No idea what to do. Checked my e-mail settings and I haven't changed anything.
