We may look into releasing The Paleface later, but right now the only other Bob Hope we have in the deal is The Ghost Breakers, which is only available in SD and needs a new HD transfer.

Correct --- I got it for $12.99 back in the February sale.

Is the 30s 'maybe' also a Bob Hope title? Only you said you were trying for another Bob Hope film, so I connected the dots on that basis.

And KLInsider also said during the previous sale that none of the titles in it would be in this one...

Damn, can't believe I missed that. I watch this site and the sales like a hawk... or so I thought. I would've jumped all over that had I seen it. Oh well, next time!

Yep, SPIRAL STAIRCASE was on sale during their last sale and I picked it up for cheap then.

Ordered some great films this time as well: CHARLY, WHATEVER HAPPENED TO AUNT ALICE, HOUSE THAT WOULD NOT DIE, GRISSOM GANG, SANGAREE, KILLING OF SISTER GEORGE, FEMALE ON THE BEACH, and several others.

Great selection of titles once again, and includes many recent releases.

You'd only save if Canada Customs lets it slide through. I have had a few orders this year where I wound up paying duty. Didn't mind as they were items I had been literally trying to get for up to ten years, so it was worth it to me. But if it's something I can get for $20 domestically, but I take a chance on a US sale that might save me a two or three dollars, I'd rather just go domestic and not have to gamble on the whims of customs.

I apologize if this has been answered already or if you are unable to answer.

With some movies I've noticed that shortly after their release, they can be found during your sales on your site for much cheaper than day 1 pricing on Amazon and the like. Most notably the 4 Road movies and The Minion.

How big of a window do we have to make our purchases count before you decide there is no interest? Is it okay to wait to pick them up from your next sales at great prices or is it better to (Pre) order day one ?

But I don't see why they won't put the work in on something cool, when it's obviously a good title, something that doesn't already exist. No, I'm not overtly familiar with the process or the work involved. But if there's a title that's worth it, it's a cult horror title. Especially a Stephen King cult horror title.

Why not do it and charge more money for it? That RoninFlix release of Hardware went for $40 bucks new, and everyone bought that. With the right marketing, Storm of the Century could've been a big seller. An amazing performance from Colm Feore.

They shoulda/coulda put those funds toward SotC.

Yes, it would be a huge project, but... as you said, it’s a cult horror title — a Stephen King cult horror title at that. Scorpion just sold ~1,000+ copies of Opera at $50 a pop (one of which is on my shelf). These cult horror fans generally understand higher prices if the label is transparent about just how much work and money they put into it.
I don't get it - Not sure what part of our explanation you don't get.

Kino spends a lot of money restoring old movies no one buys - Yes, that's what we do... wow.

Storm of the Century is a cult horror title. It's a Stephen King miniseries, and one of the better ones. It would've made an awesome Blu-ray. - All true, that's why we acquired it.

I mean, who's gonna buy another DVD that's been out for 20 years already? Not me. - We don't expect you or anyone else who owns the previous DVD to buy it, but like we said before, it's a great catalog title and should be available again, even if it's only on DVD.

But I would've bought the Blu-ray. And many others would have, too. - Yes, we know.

But I don't see why they won't put the work in on something cool, when it's obviously a good title, something that doesn't already exist. No, I'm not overtly familiar with the process or the work involved. But if there's a title that's worth it, it's a cult horror title. Especially a Stephen King cult horror title. - Because we would never recoup the exorbitant expenses. We know how much it'll cost to scan, remaster and re-edit 5 hours of raw cuts. There's also all the computerized special effects that would need to be recreated in HD.

Why not do it and charge more money for it? That RoninFlix release of Hardware went for $40 bucks new, and everyone bought that. - We would not recoup, even if we charge $80 for it.

With the right marketing, Storm of the Century could've been a big seller. - Again, that's why we acquired it, with or without "right marketing" it would've been a big seller.

An amazing performance from Colm Feore. - Yes, a great performance.

My thoughts exactly... it’s a shame but it sounds like their DVD-only plans are set in stone at this point. It’s a double shame considering the Insider basically confirmed that the work and money put toward Trilogy of Terror II (which required the same type of work Storm of the Century, and which I’ve never seen anyone actually request), was a bit of a waste. They shoulda/coulda put those funds toward SotC. - TOT II is a 90-minute film also with no cut negative, but without any computer special effects, making it an easier title to restore. We originally planned to remaster both and some other titles, but wanted to test the waters with the easier and much cheaper of the two projects and glad we did. We would need to spend 4 to 6 times more to restore SOTC. Lots of fans requested TOT II after we announced the original, it's not a classic like the original, but it's still a Dan Curtis production directed by the legendary filmmaker.

- LOL. So, you think we would recoup our expenses if we sold 1000, 2000 or 3000 copies? Maybe, if we sold 20,000 copies.

Has there ever been any confirmation of a future Pink Panther cartoon box set with all the volumes? I'm torn between grabbing the four volumes now and waiting for that...

Coincidentally, I'm so happy to see the new Bob Hope titles available! I can't wait for Ghost Breakers and I hope they release even more Hope in the future!

For those looking for a filler, here are some great recommendations:

$8.99
Blame It On Rio (Michael Caine's Lolita, need I say more?)
The Mercenary (ESSENTIAL Spaghetti Western with Franco Nero plus one of the best theme songs ever!)

$9.99
The Bounty (Best version of Mutiny on The Bounty imo. 5 stars, Highly Recommended)
Death Rides A Horse (An ESSENTIAL Spaghetti Western with Lee Van Cleef)
Topkapi (One of my top 5 fave heist movies. It has an international cast in an international setting and mixes comedy and suspense brilliantly. 5 stars, Highly Recommended)

$10.99
Face To Face (An ESSENTIAL Spaghetti Western, one of my top 10 faves)
The Thomas Crown Affair (A heist classic with Steve McQueen and Faye Dunaway)

$12.99
The Sicilian Clan (a grand scale heist movie with 3 of the best French actors of the time: Jean Gabin, Alain Delon and Lino Ventura. Also this release has two separately filmed versions of the movie in English and French!)

I had a price in mind for how much I would spend on this sale, and of course I went over that sum by a sizable amount. However, several of these titles have been on my wish list for some time so this sale does cut down significantly the number of Kino titles that I've been meaning to get. Anyway, my selections:

The Beautiful Blonde from Bashful Bend
Dakota
Hangover Square
The Lemon Drop Kid
Lifeboat
The Mark of Zorro
My Favorite Brunette
Portrait of Jennie
Road to Bali
Road to Morocco
Road to Rio
Road to Singapore
Road to Utopia (my favorite of the series)
Road to Zanzibar
Son of Paleface
Visit to a Small Planet
Western Union

I'm now caught up on the Kino Bob Hope titles (for now) and since I already have the blu of The Road to Hong Kong I have the entire Road series in HD.

EDIT: They need to talk to Vinegar Syndrome and hook up with their vendor. They offer Free Shipping if you spend a certain amount, and they actually just decreased all of their Shipping costs to orders to Canada.
Yeah, what's their sale prices? Our regular 40% off prices?

The Night Stranger was $14.99 in the FEB sale, Spiral Staircase $12.99
