Why should he? Apple don't want anything on there systems that may affect their iTunes model, tbh I don't need BD's on my Mac for playback as on a 21inch screen it doesn't look it's best.

I wouldn't mind it built in on my Mac Pro for authoring (using Adobe Encore (part of the Premiere Pro). Final Cut Studio could do with BD support that is all I ask) but any 3rd party BD burner works so I see no reason why people can't buy a cheap 3rd party on like I did (although $300 isn't really cheap ).
