Night of the Living Dead is the grand daddy of 'em all. The most fun I had at a zombie flick would be Return of the Living Dead.

Night of the Living Dead for its comments on Racism

Dawn of the Dead on its comments of mass marketing

World War Z will be the next big thing.

Actually, and I'm the minority here, I thought it was a horrible movie. Couldn't even finish it. The remake is way better IMO. And I hate remakes.

That makes me sad.

How long has it been: since you watched it?

Have you seen it on Blu-Ray? ...Quite the improvement.

..The key is understanding the 70's. The low-budget feel on an epic scale, that is Dawn of the Dead (1978).

The performances (though done by amateurs) have a feel more real and personal, than the supermodels in the remake.

If you haven't seen the original Dawn, all the way through... You're missing out. The last 30 minutes is probably the best Zombie action ever conceived. I kid you not.

And for the record, I don't consider a running zombie a zombie. The remake made them animals. Roaring and running, like marathon runners... I'm sorry that isn't a Zombie film... that's something else.

Ron, seriously, you owe yourself to watch Dawn of the Dead (1978), all the way through: at least once.

Trust Me.

P.S. If you still hate it. At least, you've seen all of it. It's worth the experience... at least once.

...all the way through.

Let's not get into THAT debate again.

Simply put: If you can move your arms a regular speed {every zombie movie ever made} then you can move your legs at regular speed without rigor mortis setting in.

Nice way of saying.... screw the rules that work.

Just because it's cool.

A running, snarling Michael Johnson isn't scary.

"Ohhhh my god!!!......Watch Out!!!... it's an Olympic Runner!!!!" "Run for your lives!!!"

"It's a running Zombie!!!" "They must watch MTV!!!" "It's a zombie mash-pit!!!"

"They from a Zombie Frat!!" "Bring the Speed!!!"

I'm sorry that's not a Zombie film. That's fast-paced nastiness pretending to be.

"Ohhh... no.... Apollo Creed is running right for me...!!!!!"

"AAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

"Whooooo!!! Whoooo!!!"

I thought quality counted, not fads.

The old ones are the ones being remade... We'll see. If people want to remake this lot, in ten years time.

I'm not sure where in this long winded rambling incoherent post you decided to make a point...

But in reference to running zombies, in practically EVERY zombie movie ever made their legs don't move as fast as they used to but their arms do... last time I checked Rigor Mortis doesn't just affect anything under your @$$.

So, if your arms can move at regular human speed... why wouldn't your arms? Especially if you have just been killed?

I won't argue the Blu-ray. I'm sure it's awesome. I saw the original Dawn years ago. Had the chance to see it in theaters in 1978 but I didn't. I just never "got it". I don't think it's worthy of a re-watch. I already did that 2 years ago and it still didn't change my views on it. I'm not the biggest George Romero/Tom Savini fan. I think George was a one hit wonder (Night). I know this will offend most but it's just my opinion. With that said, I think Night is one of the most important horror films of all time.

I agree with you... only extended.

Night of the Living Dead (1968), Martin (1976), and Dawn of the Dead (1978). That's it. The rest didn't interest me.

No offense intended, as I sincerely would never want to offend someone who starts posts about a subject as awesome as zombies, but how can you write the above paragraph after including such movies as I am Legend, The Omega Man, 28 Days Later, 28 Weeks Later & four - count 'em four! - Mummy movies in a zombie movie poll? Even if the creatures within these movies are proved to be zombies, the majority of them can move quite quickly.

It's called being fair. I included them for you... Not to be stabbed in the back.

Thank you.

Note: I don't consider any of what you mentioned... Zombie films. I did it for those who do. Not me.

Keep that in mind.

Thank You.

Stabbed in the back? Not sure where that came from. Unless you're implying that because my opinion is of a dissentive nature, I must therefore be stabbing you in the back when communicating it, even though I directed it respectfully to you in an open forum.

The reason why I thought you believed them to be zombie movies is because you argued that they fit within the parameters designated by the dictionary definition that was posted above by surfdude12. This argument supported my deduction that you considered them to be zombie movies, fueled by the fact that they were already included in your poll to determine the best zombie film. I understand now that you were simply pointing out that technically, they might be considered zombie films, even though you personally wouldn't classify them as such.

No harm. No foul. And no backstabbing. Keep that in mind. Thank you.
