I have an older Denon (not sure the model) as well as a Marantz 7001 and 5001, and all three have this feature.

I have the 7001 setup in a "component" area of my movie room no-where near the screen or seating etc... (can't see it at all) yet I still have it set up to turn off the display..... not sure why, just an old habit perhaps.
