The book was amazing. I just hope Snyder knows what he's doing. I read he was freaked out about messing it up for all the Watchmen fans, me being one of them. I just hope it's good like the novel. Oh and I love extra content like LOTR kind of content.

OK...question....

With the 3hr 10min cut along with special features and other stuff.Do you think it would put Blu-ray to the test for capacity.

There is plenty of room for a 3 hour+ film on blu-ray - look at the Godfather series. They might stick extras on a separate disc if they are hi-def and not SD, or just to make it sound like you're getting more - "Special 2 Disc Edition!"

Let's hope Watchmen can be as sussesful this year as Dark Knight was last. And if it's as good, bring it on

Link was updated again- It appears the "Ultimate" cut will arrive in Fall and will be a BLU exclusive, no DVD release.

Believe it or not, Nite Owl is based on Blue Beetle rather than Batman.

For the full story: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Watchmen
Actually, two Nite Owls were based on two Blue Beetles. Rorschach is based on The Question, The Comedian on The Peacemaker, Dr. Manhattan on Captain Atom, and Ozymandias on Peter Cannon, Thunderbolt.

I just hope Warner have their encoding game down pat when it comes time to release Watchmen. Fingers crossed.

I'm seeing the movie again in 14 hours, just so you can hate me more.

If not, I read that Paramount is releasing it in the UK.

It gets better after second viewing, FYI.

Although I really have no idea how the general population will feel about it. It's such a hefty movie to take in one sitting. And the multiplexes are crowded with fare that is SO much less demanding.

On the other hand, brilliance does prevail. And Watchmen is such a brilliant film.

I just started reading the graphic novel. I'm only through two "chapters" so far, and even though I can count the number of comics I've read on one hand, this story has me hooked.
I got it from my local public library. Check with yours. I bet they have a copy, collecting dust on the shelf.

I've always been of the opinion that reading a good story beforehand can really enhance the enjoyment of a later viewing of the film, even if the film isn't very good.

My local library has a copy of the Absolute edition. I can't recommend it as a blind buy, but it's been reprinted and you can find it considerably under the $75 it lists for if your library doesn't have it. Larger format, better paper. It's the Blu-ray of comics.

Considering we know about Tales of the Black Freighter and Under the Hood already, I'd say it's a safe bet we're looking at a second BD of HD extras to justify the "Ultimate Edition!" they'll be selling us.
