You could have just used wire mold which will not need any require any running wires in the walls. I'd still say a projector would be better in the future. Today the projector technology is so cheap compared to the old days. Now even projectors that are say $2500 are better than ones that used to cost $15k.

I'm in the market for a 52' as well, and I like what I'm reading about this Samsung unit. I'm also interested in the Sony 52' that's about the same price. My situation is eerily similar to the OP's. I have a 46' Sony WEGA that I'd like to sell off and upgrade before summertime. It's in perfect condition. I just dont want it anymore

do all these Samsung models come with that Red Touch of Color? Dont really like that too much.

If you want a Sony set, go for the 52" W series. Can be had for around $1,800 and the picture is excellent. I know someone who owns this set and bought it when it was $2,500.

Check out Onecall.com or Vann's.

wow thanks for the suggestion. The 52' W-series set I'm looking at on Amazon is a shade over $1700...not bad at all. And the reviews overall are very favorable. I love Sony, anyways. Samsung makes great products too...just a Sony man.

I am too, but I was sold on the 850. There isn't a single review that says the PQ is anything less than amazing (except for clouding issues that are few and far between, and amazon will replace it with another if that's the case).

Guys I'll be honest. I'm not thrilled with this TV. I spent 2339 on a TV that honestly wasn't a huge step up from the Sony 3000 series (at least not from what I've seen). The 120hz is nice I guess, but looks bad with Blu-rays IMO. I've tried multiple calibrations, and even tried tweaking it myself a bit, but I just don't see the big deal. I guess I was just expecting more. I spoke with the one guy who does ISF Calibrations in our area and he said he'll calibrate it after it's been ran for 100 hours, but that's going to exceed any type of return policy that amazon.com may or may not have.

On another note, I just can't get rid of these horrible little clouds when it has a black screen. My Sony, which came out a while back and supposedly can be had for under 1000 now, had no clouds.

I'm thinking about just returning it. Please let me know your thoughts.

Edit:

Also, I'm just not getting as real a picture as I expected. Standard definition looks absolutely HORRIBLE and HD broadcasts have no real detail, whereas with my Sony they do.

This is the first time I've ever had real buyer's regret, and it's eating away at me.

You have basically had issues with this TV since you ordered it, in one way or another. I think this just s$#ks for you. It really is a good TV. I came from a Sony W3000 to my current Sammy, and the Sammy I have does look noticebly better. Ultimatley, it's what you see that matters more than our opinions. Perhaps exchange it for another? I do feel for you though....geez.

Yeah that's basically just it. My main fear is exceeding the time for just getting a refund.

Just called amazon.com. Looks like I have until the 24th of this month to make a final decision.

this is why I say Sony 4 Life. I trust their brand. To be honest, I have a Samsung BD player, and while it gets the job done, I have a sinking feel the latest Sony model would shit all over it.

I had a Samsung DVD/VCR, it sucked. I had a Samsung 40" 1080p LCD, had at least one bad pixel, returned it for a Sony KDL-40V3000, no problems. I am a Sony man for life. Plus, all the Sammy refurbs on Amazon's outlet is a concern as well.
