It's a shame. I never liked the show since season 3 but I really wanted Blackwater on 4K.
Except season 1 and Blackwater I'm not likely to rewatch the show as well, I don't even have seasons 3-7 on Blu-ray.

Season 3 & 4 are the high point for me.
[Show spoiler]Well, I thought the romance with Talisa was stupid and there's some bad in 4 but the Red Wedding and Tyrion's trial (and its aftermath) more than make up for the bad.

Didn't like some of the changes from season 5 but liked it more or less, and, well, The Winds of Winter still hasn't been released so Season 6 onwards are primarily just the showrunners.

I want at least seasons 1-5 in 4K before I upgrade my copies, though.

Was it the finale of season six that felt like older GoT or was it the fifth? I binged it all at once so it’s a blur. Superb writing, tension, acting, etc.

To be honest, I can't even remember the season 6 finale.

[Show spoiler]Season 5 was Jon Snow's death, though. I preferred the book's more political take but I still did enjoy this in the show.

Season six must’ve been
[Show spoiler]Cersei blowing up the sept then.

I loved the show in season one, never quite felt that love again. There were really cool moments, but I'd say 2-6 I felt like "this is fun entertainment I could take or leave" rather than being super into it. Last season was total trash (IMO).

Anyway, I wouldn't count out a 4k complete series set. Perhaps more likely as a streaming exclusive though, who knows.

Season 1-4 are fantastic, in my opinion. Season 5 starts a little slow but makes up for it in the end. Season 6 I actually quite like but you can start to see the beginnings of some fan service but there were still some great twists/reveals, character moments, and a satisfying battle. Season 7 and 8 are the "beginning of the end" seasons and just feel rushed and illogical. Characters act way differently without the proper development and it just looks like the producers/creators tried to go for too much spectacle without properly thinking about. The battle in season 7 (Fields of Fire) isn't too bad but other than I can't really think of a good scene.

Season 7 and 8, without GRRM to look over their shoulders, shows D&D for the frauds - talent-less hacks - they are. Watch carefully and you find they didn't understand these characters and their motivations AT ALL.

It's almost like everyone forgot that David Benioff wrote Wolverine Origins.

I agree with this,, even in season 1 there were glimpses of the tru D&D like the "making the 8th" scene (which GRRM said in interviews that he despised this scene) or the Littlefinger sexposition. Even small deviation from the way they portrayed the characters - mainly, Catelyn is impulsive and hot tempered and Ned isn't affected by his trauma of Robert's rebellion - removing all "promise me, Ned" even back in season 1, and changing his main motivation from "not wanting kids to die" to "it's all about being honorable" ffs.

Well, *I* would certainly buy a 4K box set. Yeah, it ended poorly, but it's still at around 5 seasons of good stuff.

I think they'll do that and no individual seasons. Few people would buy just S2 coming out without knowing if more will come, but a full series box? Sure.

Eh?

Give me a damn break

They wrote a lot of Season 5 and all of 6 "without guidance" too. Plenty of good stuff in Season 7.

How soon we forget the Battle of the Bastards, Cersei blowing up the Sept and Dany triumphantly crossing the Narrow Sea.

It's almost like you want to troll - badly.

David Benioff, a comic book fan, pursued the project for almost three years before he was hired to write the script in October 2004. In preparing to write the script, he reread Barry Windsor-Smith's "Weapon X" story, as well as Chris Claremont and Frank Miller's 1982 limited series on the character (his favorite storyline). Also serving as inspiration was the 2001 limited series Origin, which reveals Wolverine's life before Weapon X. Jackman collaborated on the script, which he wanted to be more of a character piece compared with the previous X-Men films. Skip Woods, who had written Hitman for Fox, was later hired to revise and rewrite Benioff's script. Benioff had aimed for a "darker and a bit more brutal" story, writing it with an R rating in mind, although he acknowledged the film's final tone would rest with the producers and director

You mean:
Ramsay Sue successful in everything until the plot doesn't want him to be.

Cersei blowing the sept without any consequences.

Dany coming to an empty land and castle with no one to stand against her

You mean not anticipating the Knights of the Vale? He WON the battle otherwise.

You're right. There should have been a zombie Stannis to greet her.

The Knights of the Vale crossed Moat Cailin, which Ramsay should hold and be informed when an ARMY crosses it, and don't get me started on Jon and Sansa's battle plans.

I mean riots from the common people, from the people who worship the Seven, there are thousands if not millions in all Westeros, remember rioting used to be a thing back in season 2? Cause David Benioff sort of forgot.

Dragonstone is a large island populated by people, villages, etc... And a castle is not something that just stands empty, especially not Dragonstone. Stannis either left a castellan or the Lannister should have conquered it.

Eh, mostly I just want to know who's to blame for turning Deadpool into Definitely-Not-Deadpool.

They had GRRM notes for books he was working on... but then they rushed the last seasons and had nothing to fall back on except themselves. A lot of people noticed how things took a turn... and not for the better. Then GOT completely collapsed in on itself.

That scene in the brothel is one of the worst things ever, and I say that as someone who thinks America's hangups with sex and nudity are ridiculous. It just felt like something a teen boy thought of at 2am while doing his thing.

But yeah, the whole series for me is a jumble of amazing stuff, terrible stuff and stuff in-between. Not saying it's anywhere near bad, I've just never thought it was amazing either. I have fantasy RPG games that have better writing and characters, like Arcanum. But it did have the spectacle and cool factor that roped people in, and I do enjoy it.
