YES. Man, I really, rrrrrreally hope this sells so Synapse releases more of their titles on UHD.

I do not want to purchase this twice.
Most would probably buy the 4K and sell the BD on eBay, which will then be bought by someone who would have otherwise bought a different copy, potentially new. These small indie companies struggle to get a release out the door or to stay afloat. Yes, combo packs are nice, but when you are only going to sell a few thousand of a title globally, cutting your sales in half doesn't help.

I'm cool with this. I already own the prior Synapse release. So I have a "HD" disc to play when I don't want to worry about how a TV that isn't 4K would downconvert a 4K disc to SDR.

Mr. Lustig likely still has this one, and Blue Underground doesn't do UHD.

I'm sure it'll get a new master at some point - BU has been doing this with a lot of older titles lately. But unless they change their MO, it would be a normal BD from a 4K remaster.

Synapse always only do one option on the first run, so the 4K and Blu combo would be priced at $65+ and you would have people saying bull**** I’m not paying that. So no matter what they do people won’t be happy.

I've never seen this film before, but I'm trying to cut down on blind buys. Since I don't really know what to expect from it, would watching the 2018 version give me a good feel for whether I'll like this one (or are the 2 radically different)?

They are radically different. Absolutely nothing like each other at all stylistically.

I’m not sure there’s really any other movie to compare the original Suspiria to. It’s like a Grimm fairy tale mixed with a giallo, bathed in lush technicolor and soaked in dread. It’s singular.

Great news. One of the best movies ever made. Preordered from Diabolik almost immediately. Would love to see more Dario Argento films coming to 4K UHD format.

I've got the Synapse Steelbook, so what I'll probably end up doing is taking the soundtrack CD out of that and replacing it with the UHD.

Never heard of this! Should I be ashamed?

Not a big horror movie guy, but this one sounds like it's one of the format's "must haves."

Guess I'll be getting it.

Edit: $59.99?! Please tell me this is just one of Amazon's early high prices that they will lower big time soon! Will Best Buy be carrying it?

Diabolik DVD is currently cheapest: $37.99 + $5 shipping.

Synapse is an independent label and costs are higher. All of their steelbook releases were at that price point.
