Thanks.
According to www.imdb.com it says "Film Negative Format: Video", Cinematographic process: Digital Betacam". Isn't digital betacam standard definition?

If it is/was HD there'd be nothing wrong with 1080i video since most concerts are shot at a higher rate than 24p and 24p is the only rate that Blu-ray supports at 1080p resolution so it has to use 1080i instead for 30 or 60fps.

IMO this disc is stunning in every regard. I should say I am more of a critical AUDIO listener than I am a VIDEO viewer. I haven't noticed any jaggies on my Panny Plasma, so I'd say you're fine. Enjoy the disc...it's terrific!

That's good to hear. Thanks. If this disc sounds as good as everyone says it does, then it can afford to have some video issues, if any. If there aren't any, then that's great.

I do enjoy Chris Botti a lot. I played trumpet for nine years while in school and was in the h.s. jazz band and combo. My interest in jazz was always there, but I think it has been growing as my music tastes are maturing. I'll probably pick up his new Boston Blu too.

Great concerts
Korn: Live at Montreux 2004
Nine Inch Nails: Beside You in Time
Rush: Snakes and Arrows Live

U2: Rattle and Hum
This one let me down, more like a PBS show,
lots of talking between songs.
What I did watch was in black and white, and looked like 480, not 1080.

Reference picture and reference 24/96 5.1 audio.

Even if you're not a fan of DMB's music, when it's just D+T on stage it's a completely different show.
I saw this last night on Palladia, although in standard dolby, it was still awesome.

If jazz is your thing, you might want to check out Pat Metheny. It leans toward a more symphonic approach to jazz; a little more improvisational, but everthing about this disc is totally off the charts.

Do yourself a favor and watch it on Blu, it is a HUGE step up from what they are showing on Palladia

I watched this on regular DVD and really enjoyed it, Metheny can be a bit too out there sometimes for me but I enjoyed this performance. It's on my ever growing list of disks to get on blu.

For those unfamiliar with Jazz I would suggest a rental first. There is no denying however that Pat M is a wonderful talent and consumate musician. Like Chick Corea...he's out there!

I suggested that the uninitiated rent as well in my review. However in saying that, it is a interesting journey in improvisational jazz that is interesting and facinating....if you can sit through the lack of stucture which coming from a jazz/gospel background I can.

Ahh yes, I think the Radio City concert was shown on HDNet movies or one of the other channels.
I did watch the Piedmont Park concert and it was very good, hopefully it will be released on blu soon.

The John Legend is good, as well as the Timberlake (amazingly) but i also really enjoyed Dave Matthews and The Black Crowes, But The Top Two are The SCORSESE'S: The Last Waltz and Shine A Light!!!

Default David Foster - Hit Man

It is an Amazon exclusive . . .

Great songs, great performers, impeccable performance, spectacular orchestra, fabuluous recording; no compression and exceptional dynamics.

The audio quality of this BD has to heard to be believed. "A New Day" sounded great before I heard Hit Man now it has droped down significantly.

If you have heard a better recording, please, let me know !

The best demo material . . . anyone can judge the quality of reproduction of human voices and instrument timbre ! (explosions, crashes, bullits are impressive but not revealing)

If your system shines on this . . . movies will be a breeze !

JC

I saw a bunch of the BR concerts on sale at Costco for $12.99, and was wondering if I should pick any up, but since I didn't know a damn thing about any of them, I held back. The Led Zep one called to me, for some reason, but I kept my whims under control. I need to read this thread first!

Bought 2 today; Rush Snake and Arrows and Celine Dion A New Day...Rush is a great concert and the sound is great except that I found it a bit on the "bright" side. Almost like you're looking for the treble to put it down. But that's the only knock I have on it. Celine was an all around amazing concert. Great PQ and awesome AQ...wasn't looking for the treble on this one. Perfect blend of highs, lows and mids.

Just picked up the Rush: Snakes & Arrows BD the other day, but haven't had a chance to listen/watch it yet. Will see if I can pick up on the treble issue. Mind you, my speakers are very different so I don't know how apparent this may be.
