To be fair, and I watch a ton of Yankees games, Sanchez has been much better this year with the passed balls. But in the playoffs, it’s clear he took his offensive struggles behind the plate, leading to the passed balls. As for not hustling, that’s always the case because Sanchez is a walking injury.

Great hire by the Phils. I live in NY so there will be lots of frustrated Mets fans voicing their displeasure about this on talk radio.

Glad he landed a new job. He's a pretty solid manager, even if he's more hardcore and serious than most. Might be just what the Phils need

Brandon Taubman fired. Astros say they were wrong.

I hate the Astros. I think that they are a shady organization and that it's no coincidence that their pitchers' RPM's increased once they signed with Houston. I am a baseball purist and I hate cheating of all forms - including pine tar and the like.

The Astros reportedly were spying on Cleveland a couple years ago too.

I hope it all bites them in the ass.

Glad to hear Girardi landed another managerial gig. Yes, he is intense but I think ultimately he belongs in the dugout vs the MLB Network.

He just looks like a New Yorker - like a mobster of old. It will be weird to see him in Phillies red. It could be fantastic or it could be a total shitshow with Bryce.

I agree and Bryce left the Nats at just the wrong time.

im done with Sanchez...what good is a below par catcher who has a big bat when that bat cant hit SH It in the playoffs...

and i was never a fan of Girardi. hes not a good manager imo and solely relies on his damn binder of analytics to coach.. .thats not coaching, essentially a robot can do what he does. no instincts or gut

So does Romine get promoted or do they trade them both and go with Higashioka? I think the Yankees made the mistake to sit out Voit for the entire series. I know nobody cares about Greg Bird anymore but Voit needs to be part of that lineup. Not sure what will happen with Clint Frasier but he'll probably get traded.

i think there would be pretty high demand for Sanchez due to his bat...i would explore that option and see what you can get....

So, is Zack Greinke a Hall of Famer? Increasingly, I think he is. He's at 205-123 with a career 3.35 ERA. A lot of of 15 to 19 wins seasons, no 20 win seasons. Biggest knock against him is probably his mediocre 3-6, 4.44 ERA postseason record, but could still win a ring either this season or in the future. Solid performance from him tonight in a must win game. Also, 250~ wins is quickly becoming the new marker for starting pitchers making the HOF. Even Verlander might not get to 300 unless he hangs around for quite a few more years. CC Sabathia is fortunate he plays for the Yankees, which likely gets him into the Hall with a ERA of 3.74, and only one really good postseason.

I'm not a statistics war monkey, but Greinke should absolutely be in the hall of fame. The second half of his career has been at a very high level over a long time (something the hall always looks for in pitchers). The only knock is that he seems like a mercenary because he's been on quite a few teams.

Wins are going to be very hard to come by due to the innings and pitch count limitations these days.

Houston is pounding the Nats tonight. Looks like they’ll be tying up the series.

Why do these modern managers stupidly take out starters who are absolutely cruising in the playoffs? The overmanaging drives me crazy.

Nats are blowing it. Knock off Houston’s two aces on the road, then lay an egg in games 3 and 4 at home, last one against a rookie.

Preaching to the choir here. Analytics are ruining the game. Urquidy only threw 67 f’n pitches. No reason at all to pull him after 5 innings.

I’m old enough to remember game 7 of the 1991 Series. If it were played nowadays Morris and Smoltz would be yanked in the 5th inning and each team would trot out five or six pitchers the 10th inning.

Yup....all about the analytics and just take a look at how rare it is for a pitcher to throw a complete game now.

Totally silly to yank Urquidy so early.
