I knew Star Wars was way too big to keep exclusive to Disney+. Not yet, anyway. I know people who have streamed these say the DNR sucks though, so I'll prepare for disappointment. Still, I love sci-fi and Star Wars enough to want the set either way. Doubt they ever come to disc again.

Now if only they would offer all the different cuts / editions of each film, instead of only offering the newest inferior versions, which seem to get worse with each change.

Just gimme a standalone of The Force Awakens, and I'll be set.

4K77 and 4K83 are all I need, and 4K80 is coming.

But the best part of these 4K editions is that Harmy will have better resources than ever to do definitive "Despecialized Editions".

As much as I love Star Wars I'd probably still purchase a set like this even though my go to versions of my favorite era are Project 4K77, Despecialized ESB, Project 4K83. I did enjoy the Disney+ streams, especially ESB but I don't think we'll ever see the original trilogy on disc. It will always be the newest revised versions.

Yeah, I know they won't. I'm still waiting for TN1 to release Empire Strikes Back 4K80. They've already done good work with the original and Jedi. I'll never watch the new inferior versions again, even if they have superior picture quality to those 35 mm cinema restorations. I don't know if I'll bother with the prequels in 4K either, since they seem to have been met with poor reception.

Yeah it's crazy to me Lucas is leaving so much money on the table, by not releasing the Original Theatrical Cuts, just because he want's to pretend they don't exist. I can imagine it's frustrating for Disney too, as I'm sure they would happily double dip them to make all the money.

Thankfully the fan made Despecialized Editions and 4KXX Editions are amazing (and free) but I'd happily pay for official blu-ray / 4k versions if they offered them.

Excluding the original versions of the OT,the other weird thing with Star Wars on home media is the extras.
No release since the dvd era ports the special features from the previous editions,so stuff like the Empire of Dreams doc and the deleted scenes from the prequels have never been on HD (on physical, not sure about streaming).
Curious to see if this one will include everything or will be a barebones release like Harry Potter...

I wonder if they'll also release trilogy sets the same day. No doubt the 9 film box will be pricey. Besides being more palatable financially it will let folks skip, say, the prequels if they don't want 'em.

I'm in for the box, who am I kidding.

Great news! I do wish they had included Rogue One and Solo. Rogue One needs a 4k release too.

So let's work out what is the 27 discs

9 4ks
9 Blu rays
9 dvds - surely not, a bit of a waste

If it were 12 4ks, so 9 2019 versions plus 3 97 se versions.
Duplicate blu rays
That leaves 3 discs for extras what do you think?

9 4k discs = 1 4k disc per movie .
9 Bluray discs with the 9 movies on.
9 Bluray discs with extras = 1 extras disc per movie.

I assume they split the bonus features from the two compiled Fox trilogy bonus discs to six separate bonus discs for each Fox movie. Then, include the bonus disc each Disney movie has and there, 4K + 2D + Bonus for each movie = 27 discs.

and most likely this set will be packaged like the recent Infinity Saga in papersleeves digi-packs. I'll get this regardless of the versions as I recently picked up the Harmy Despecialized editions so from that certain point of view.....
