I don’t get how 7-9 is part of the Skywalker Saga. Luke’s not in Episode 7 he dies in 8 and he’s not in 9. Disney doesn’t seem to know what they are doing. Episodes 1-6 is The Skywalker Saga. 7-9 should be called the PC Saga.

Technically, it was not. The cover actually looks like the Death Star from Rogue One.

So tired of reading this type of virtue signaling on here.

Like oh I'm sorry, do I not buy enough 4K discs for you? It's asdf'ing obnoxious when people act like others on here don't support the format.

I think I paid well over a $100 or more for the whole saga (at the time) back when it first came out on Blu-ray. Plus, they have since added 3 more movies and a whole new format, That's going to be significantly more expensive. Nothing is ever free.
The comparison was between the 9-film BD set and the 9-film UHD set, you boob.

I didn't explicitly say what happens in the final scene. I don't consider that spoiling.

It's because of some misplaced loyalty to George. Something about respecting his original vision and intention...

It's already been done before. I like this artwork better actually. I don't like rehashing the artwork that's already been used before. Except in the case of music, but that's completely different.

And the vast majority of filmmakers, even Lucas' friends and colleagues all agree that once a film is released, that it's done and over with; that is the final product. Scorsese, Spielberg, Zemeckis, Coppola have expressed this; Spielberg even retracting the changes he made to E.T. for the 20th Anniversary, and Raiders of the Lost Ark, in which the DVD release he removed the reflection of the snake in the glass, then went back with the original for the Blu-ray release. Even Lucas' own friends have urged him to release the original theatrical cuts, yet he won't. And as far as the National Film Registry is concerned, they still don't have prints of any of the Star Wars films in their library, because Lucas has only offered them the special editions, not the originals, which they've refused, because that's not what they inducted into the library...
Not true at all. You are not entitled to anything. Especially if it is art the creator owns outright. Look at it like this: if I buy a famous work of art, the Mona Lisa for example, at an auction but decide not to share it with the world that's my prerogative. it is mine. You are not entitled to see that piece of art just because you saw it once. Or maybe a better example would be if a musician who owns all of their master recordings decided to suddenly stops printing them, remove them from digital/streaming services, and vault them for all eternity. He has the right to do that. Should that work of art be preserved and out there for the world to hear just because you heard it once before? Only if the artists want you to hear it. How many artists out there right now have lots of their music gone from the world because the stuff is out of print? Too many. Does anyone care? No, not really.

Include all cuts of the films, properly remastered and restored, and give the audience the option to choose which version they want to so.
Yes, that would be a nice option. However, it is the choice of the artist and if he doesn't want us to have that option then who are we to say otherwise. Have you created any works of art? It's a very wonderful and amazing thing. but just because you make that piece of art and put it out there doesn't mean that it leaves your possession and becomes someone else's. It still yours to do with as you please. Sometimes you may want to make changes. You may decide after years of living with said art that it needs to be reworked. You, as the artist, have that right. And there is nothing wrong with that. We are just consumers of the art. Nothing more. We may not like it when the art changes (if it does), but we don't have to like it. Or even accept it really. There are a lot of things in life that changes. Some for good and some for worse. We cannot stop that. My life changed for the worst when my fiancee killed themselves and I would love to change that. I cannot and I have to live with that. I hope I am making sense.

My biggest concern isn't even about availability at this point, it's about the condition of the original negatives, if Lucas hasn't already destroyed them. The longer they sit on a shelf with our proper preservation and restoration, the faster they're going to deteriorate, and they'll be gone forever. If you really think that that's okay, and we lose the original negative's forever because of the filmmaker himself being unsatisfied with the work because he was restrained by the technology at the time, that's pure ego driving him, not at sake of the art.

We don't know though that George Lucas has destroyed them. In fact, I think it's safe to say he hasn't. As A New Hope OUTR* was recently screened. So they still do exist. However, if Lucas did burn them in order for the new special editions to be the canonized versions, then so be it. It's his art. He can do whatever the he-- he wants to with it. And how do you know it's ego vs. art? You didn't create the art so you can't possibly know. It's just assumptions here. Don't mistake what I am saying for me loving what has been done. I'm not any happier about it than you are. However, it's not my art so I have no say. And this is obviously what George Lucas wants. in that end, I have learned to deal with it, accept it, and move on. I am not going to stop watching the movies either.

Ok. AND??? My point still stands. The Blu-rays don't cost that much to replicate since they're already out there and have been reissued recently. The 4K UHDs, however, will cost a good bit to get them ready for 4K and mass produce. Nothing is free!!! And I will have you know, I have two boobs.

It’s a spoiler that Luke is back in ROS? It was confirmed ages ago.

Indeed. Not to condone spoilers of any kind but...also wtf are you doing on the internet, the day after a movie comes out in the theater, hanging out in "The Skywalker Saga 4K UHD" thread, if you vehemently don't want to get spoilered?

That's like the guy that comes outta nowhere and bolts into a pedestrian crossing during a green light and then shakes his fist at the traffic for not reacting fast enough.

Did you seriously come into a thread about a movie that's been out less than a day and NOT expect the possibility of something being spoiled???

Mark Hamill AKA Luke Skywalker is in Rise of the Skywalker Film

Mark Hamill is in following films
Star Wars
Empire Strikes Back
Return of the Jedi
Force Awakens
Last Jedi
Rise of Skywalker

Skywalker Saga is not just about Luke

Skywalker family as a saga I gather you don't understand or have not seen all 9 films

Yep. If they were referring to the final scene comment though, then I’m sorry, but if you don’t see it coming while watching the film, then I have some magic beans to sell. It was that obvious. Hell, the title spoils it as it is.
