What's up with reviewers nowadays?

Add this to the list of films sitting at less than 40% on most review outlets that ends up way better than you'd imagine. There's no way in hell that this film should have a score of 23% on RT.

Critics are beginning to serve no purpose in my opinion when it comes to the audience being on a complete end of the spectrum.

It's not adding up.
Critcs have agenda’s. They also often pretend to speak for everyone.

Their opinions shouldn’t be taken that seriously.

Impressive transfer for sure and I actually really enjoyed it. Not as good as the last film but I really liked the revenge plot and love the fact I own the franchise on 4K UHD.

My friend is amendment he's not grinning but it's a grimace instead. My take is that he just talked to Carmen about needing revenge and he's taking pleasure in his killing. It's almost like the beast has been awoken again.

A heated debate. What do you think? Grin or grimace?
I did think that too. Characteristically, Rambo has never shown pleasure in killing before even though he is an expert at it.

Given the more personal context I think he could be grinning but then given the fact that Sly's mouth is ****ed he could be doing either.

Only speaking of the quality of the disc, I thought visually it looks very nice. There's a few shots that look like photographs. Just beautifully shot and super sharp in 4k.

The driving scenes look awful and very low budget. That's not the disc or quality of the UHDs fault though, that's just how they were shot with the green screen and made for TV-like camera angles.

The sound though...awful. One of the worst UHD discs in recent history that I can recall. Mostly all center channel and very quiet. Absolutely nothing like Rambo 2008 which was almost demo worthy.

I agree. What the hell happened to the sound on this disc?

I'll say a little more on it.

The film is a completely unnecessary addition to the franchise, for sure. The end of the fourth film brought things pretty full circle and was a fitting farewell. This epilogue doesn't need to exist.

That said, if they were going to tell a story after John Rambo went home, this was a decent attempt. It does have this weird 'not quite a theatrical experience but not direct to video, either' quality to it, but that all went away after I saw the brutal finale. It really was somethin'.

The character was still on point, Stallone was vicious, and the revenge was sweet. It's not my fav Rambo movie but I wouldn't turn my nose up at watching it again, and multiple times at that.

I didn’t know until now there’s more than one cut of the film. Luckily, the Australian BD release is the longer (superior) International Cut.

Happy to have seen this version first.

As others here have commented, the 2008 film was the perfect ending to the series. I still enjoyed this one immensely.

[Show spoiler]The young girl’s absent father is a POS.

This movie is so bad but I got a kick out of it, the new terminator and this are like two sides of the same coin in many ways.

Sylvester Stallone had rushed and threw this movie together, to cash in on the Rambo franchise. He's really showing his age.

Yeah, totally rushed, that’s why there was an entire year between the start of filming and release... that also must be why Sly took the time to do reshoots and test screenings... and why they rushed straight into shooting when the project was first discussed in like 2013....

Try harder with your trolling, bro.

Ok. There isn't anything political about this whatsoever, though. It's a reaction to the comment about Sly's mouth.

EVERYTHING is politics now, it's depressing. Even outside of that though they've always had elitist opinions and other flaws. I remember with Assassin's Creed (like the movie or not) every single Rotten Tomatoes summary was basically "how dare a videogame movie take itself seriously?" Everything is agenda.

It's why I don't pay attention to reviews, I stopped reading film magazines and visiting sites like AICN years ago and I particularly ignore YouTube shite. I know that this is the thing that people do these days, they've all got their favourite YT 'stars' (they mention all these names and I'm like 'who?') but no matter the presentation medium I no longer have any need for someone else to tell me what I should be thinking or feeling about a movie or TV show, and even the schtick of the 'comedy' reviewers gets real old real quick.
