I think everything is going to be released at the same time and we just haven't heard about the Individual releases yet, there are still another three months. It's Star Wars in 4K, they are not going to limit it just for Best Buy.

There haven't been any region locked releases because the format doesn't have any regional restrictions.

The only issue we could run into in the future is geo-locking, where restrictions are put in place through IP addresses. I think a couple of anime Blu-rays have this feature, but no UHDs.

Were the stories written by George Lucas? If not, then they are not canon to me. Disney can call them what they want.
People chose not to consider the Prequels as canon. That's their right.

I didn't say IV-VI, I said I-VI.

The Blu-ray collections says The Complete Saga, and that's exactly what it is.
The Disney films are their own thing, but no longer George Lucas' Star Wars.
I think we can probably at least agree on that.

Hope we get an announcement for this soon. I’m really on the fence with this without specifics.

I wonder if any of these titles besides Last Jedi will be in Dolby Vision? For the biggest money making studio in Hollywood they are by far the cheapest company in terms of providing quality 4K HDR content. Last year a number of Disney UHD titles were $15 at BB over Black Friday 2018. This year none were cheaper than $23. They seem to have no idea what a BD-100 is, have dropped Dolby Vision entirely and charge out the A$$ for titles. Charging a premium price for mediocre content.

Also it would be nice to have titles take full advantage of the format! 400 nit peaks in Star Wars 77-83 is substandard!

Because people buy their releases either way.

I've noticed this for the last several years with Disney. The quality of their releases keeps dropping every year yet they still continue to charge an arm and a leg.

Or it's what the content creators wanted! How about that!

Which kinda makes the complaining about Dolby Vision irrelevant as it won't transform SDR-esque content into eye-searing HDR, will it? Last Jedi is one such case in point. Still, the good thing about DV is that it will at least ensure a proper tone map for this sort of low brightness content, it's very ironical that the mildest HDR material is the hardest content for a static tone mapper to track.

That is why I purchased nothing from Disney at all over Black Friday!

...right?
Individual releases, as well as Rogue One, are listed to release on the same day as this set.

I was speaking specifically about the force awakens feeling exactly like new hope which isn't a new criticism, I understand how played out it is but my disappointment was crushing when I realized it was the same damn movie.

It’s weird , sometimes the new colour grading looks more like the OT and other times less so.
On shot 3 I still like the light saber’s glowing look better in the original image.

Does it state what the source is for the 1980 theatrical image?
*Edit
Oh I see it was the star wars revisted version. Which is a good fan recreation it's still odd to use that as if it was the exact same thing as what was seen for the original theatrical release.

If those colours are accurate then I'm kinda loving that the onboxious blue tint has gone and that the Star Destroyer interiors are back to being a cold hard grey.

And I tell you what: even Artoo Rocks! in ANH looks 10x better than the 2011 attempt because the artistry was so poor, they just pasted the rocks over the top and left the lighting the same on Artoo, now he actually LOOKS like he's hiding in a little hollow and the digital rocks even cast 'shadows' onto him.

The real kicker is that I'm seeing some improvements to the retention of highlights in several of those shots, in ANH especially. Very mild improvements, but improvements nonetheless.

Good news is you can feel however you want, I can't stop you. Everyone expresses opinions, though I'm sure you'd never consider calling into question someone both loving Transformers 2 and thinking The Godfather is boring, right?

Not to jump into this conversation. But seriously how can you not see how TLJ is a rehash and combination at times of not only Empire for the most part but also Jedi

There may be similarities, but there are also massive differences.
