As long as your TV is set to display the image in the exact format of the signal that it receives, then you are watching seeing the image as it was meant to be seen. If you are watching scope movies (2.4:1, or there about) without black bars present, then your setup is not correct, the picture is zoomed/cropped and you are lowering the resolution of the picture. There are countless "black bars" threads on this forum along with a very good sticky explaining aspect ratios, if you care to read more about the topics.
Not sure I understand the "clearly my setup is superior" statement, but if you are happy with it, then that's all that matters (for you). What TV do you have? |
