Ok, So I am in the process of trying to convince the wife that we need a TV (LN46A650) and need some opinions… I think If I can tell her how much I can sell ours for it may help in the convincing process. We have only had my current sammy for a year and paid $1,100 at that time.. any estimates? $300 $400 $500?? And, if any of you have suggestions to maybe stretch the truth to get a new TV I'm open to that! I just don't want to go to plan C. which is accidentally poor a soda in it..

You could take a sick day, bust a window in your house (or apartment), and make the TV disappear.

Is your wife a movie lover? Then start dropping little hints on how 1080p would vastly improve your watching experience. play your cards right, you may even be able to upgrade your surround sound too. (Oh honey, look at this, the new Onkyos offer full 9.2 support, wouldn't that make movie night and blu-rays just sooo much better)

Or, here you go, start subtle little changes in the picture settings (spread it out over a couple weeks, this will give you time to shop around for a good deal on your new TV) until the picture looks horrible. BAM! instant reason to buy the new TV.

Boy, I feel like a terrible person right now. Nothing I offered was honest.

Or, you just do it and move the old tv into the bedroom. It's a win win.

First, nice TV selection, this is an awesome set. I just got my Sammy 650 in January after just 14 months, so it can be done! I'll tell you how I did it. Women love to hear great deals and how much money you saved, as they like to shop too, so appeal to this side of her). If you could possibly find the set (Amazon, Buy.com, etc...wherever) that shows you saving 30% or so, then convince her that you already have a buyer for the TV (inflate the sale amount to close the gap) and then if need be, store the TV at a friends house so that it "appears" you already sold it after you get the new TV. I did this, and it took about 1 month to sell my old TV (my buddy loved my old Sony for that 1 month ) then I had the TV I wanted and did eventually sell the old TV. In the end, she thought I only paid about $400 out of pocket, and saved over 67%. Being a savvy shopper, she knew she would do the same thing to save 67%, so she was OK with it. Good luck!

I just sold my 42" 720p Vizio for $600, I would say if you can get between $500-$600 you would get a few takers. I am getting a 32" for about $550, so new bedroom TV and $50 in the pocket, nice... maybe use that for a new blu-ray...hahaha

I bought a 58 inch plasma behind my wife's back when she was on a trip.

When she came back I said it was a present for her.

I got away with it.

I'd suggest the following:

Take a day off work and install the new TV and get rid of the old one or leave it at a friend's house until you have a buyer.

Pay some of it in cash (or all in cash) so that it becomes a sort of "virtual" price.

She might not even notice. As funny as that may seem, I upgraded my Sub at one point and she did not even notice. To me the subs were much different looking but she didn't notice.

So many options! you guys don't make this easy! Well I have recently noticed 4 black lines on my TV durring dark sceens or if it is on and no picture being fed... It is VERY annoying though once you notice... (kinda like the studdering that 120HZ takes care of).. So I have that to fall back on.. Ill just tell her thoes black lines means it will explode and kill us both unless we get a LN46A650

Dude, you know you already know the answer. You just want us to justify the WRONG answer.

Just make/keep your wife happy and all will be good in the universe.

Or you could say you need to make a man cave and that you'll put the bad tv in that room and get the new sammy for her viewing satisfaction in her room?
Course you might have to add some manicures and pedicures into the equation.

Wife: I knew that

Wife: Poor baby, do you have raiseitis yet?
Me: Ouch, that hurt
Wife: You’re on a TV kick now just like you were on a Tag kick and you ended up getting your watch!
Me: No, that’s not true….
Wife: I want lots of stuff

Wife: No, our TV works fine for our romantic nights together!
Me: ok, well I am going to need to spend more time online having my forum coach me through my problem then…

And if you don't get them when your married, go ahead and try to think to get things when kids enter the equation.....I finished getting all of the new stuff I wanted just days before my son was born...whew'

Hmm that conversation sounds kinda familiar..... Does she call your seating spot the "mascot?"

I was just asked if I was gonna hit her up for a new TV next year...... I was like pffff... NO!
