I have never understood why people relate Pratt to Ford?

Anyway its irrelevant because Indy dies with Harrison. Its the right thing.

Because Guardians was his Han Solo audition and Jurassic World was his Indy audition. I think he'd be fine as Indy, but there's at least one better option IMO (Bradley Cooper). But the longer this goes on, the more likely it'll end up being an unknown, or at least someone we haven't heard or thought of yet.

And I agree that I'm done after Ford is, but not out of spite or anything. I'm one of the few who thinks the series is a resounding 4-for-4, hopefully it'll be 5-for-5. Then they can revamp the series with a new actor/director/etc. and make new adventures for a new generation. We'll always have the Ford ones.

They resemble each other at the time of the start of Ford’s career.

Also, they both don’t like to button up their shirts all the way. Like really, what else is needed?

I don't relate Pratt to Ford. I relate Pratt to an Indiana Jones-type.

I thought he was pretty good as Solo, maybe he would make a good Indy too.
I thought Ehrenreich was fantastic in Solo but now I'm afraid his career is over because of the film's supposed failure.

Steven Spielberg Won’t Direct ‘Indiana Jones 5,’ James Mangold in Talks to Replace

Quote:
After a long development process, Steven Spielberg is handing the directing reins on “Indiana Jones 5” to another filmmaker for the first time in the franchise’s 39 year history, Variety has learned.

Sources say that while a deal hasn’t closed, “Ford v Ferrari” director James Mangold is in talks to take the job. Mangold has been put in this situation before when he took over the “Wolverine” franchise; 2017’s “Logan” was a blockbuster, grossing $619 million globally, and earned Mangold an Oscar nomination for best adapted screenplay.

Spielberg will remain as a hands-on producer on “Indy 5.” According to a source close to the filmmaker, the decision to leave the director’s chair was entirely Spielberg’s, in a desire to pass along Indy’s whip to a new generation to bring their perspective to the story.

Harrison Ford, meanwhile, is still on the project. The actor recently made headlines speaking about the the future of the franchise while promoting his latest film, “The Call of the Wild.” He told “CBS Sunday Morning” this month that he was “going to start doing ‘Indiana Jones’ in about two months,” and then days later told HeyUGuys that the project is still facing “scheduling issues and a few script things” and that “we’re determined to get it right before we get it made.”

When Disney first announced the new “Indiana Jones” film in 2016, with Spielberg directing and Ford starring, the studio originally slated the film to open on July 19, 2019. Then it was pushed a year to July 10, 2020, and then pushed again to July 9, 2021, when Jonathan Kasdan (son of “Raiders of the Lost Ark” scribe Lawrence Kasdan) was brought on to take a pass on the script after original screenwriter David Koepp left the project.

I relate Anthony Ingruber to Ford. A shame he was passed up for Solo: A Star Wars Story. He'd be perfect for some younger Indiana Jones adventures.

Christ.

Yikes. Mangold is awesome but Indy/Ford without Spielberg doesn’t sit right with me.

Old man Indy. It's good since I really don't think Spielberg has any interest in a big blockbuster anymore. Case in point - Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

Oh, that's awful news. And I like James Mangold. But Indy without his creator and guide? Naaah.

Say what you will about KOTCS, the real thing is always better than a tribute band. No Lucas, no Spielberg, no (one can assume) John Williams? No thanks.

If that were the case, he wouldn't have wasted his time on stuff like The BFG and Ready Player One.

But I kind of hope that's true, because he seems to be putting more heart and soul in smaller-scaled, politically-oriented dramas in this phase of his career than in big-budget fare.

If it was a reboot that would be fine.... Maybe they should just move to that at this point (it's happening eventually anyway). I'd much rather see Spielberg do one more with Harrison Ford.

I would consider West Side Story fairly big budget. It cost $100 million, according to Wikipedia.

I kinda think they should just make a clean break of it now. Just re-cast the role, bring in a new director/creative team, and start moving forward.
