Does anyone know if the digital code for the Rise Of Skywalker in the Skywalker set include the John Williams special called "The Maestro's Finale" that is included with the digital code in the individual release of the Rise of Skywalker?

I'm sure there are numerous threads here discussing the merits (or lack thereof) of the Star Wars movies. This is supposed to be a thread about the box set release, but comments about this are getting lost in the shuffle amongst the arguments about what movies are best.
Can we keep the discussion to the box set, please? |

I know this is sacrilegious to say but I went Digital UHD only with this set. I know it won't look as good as the physical discs but I'm not paying $250(not including tax)for these movies. $99.99(no tax on digital) including new release TRoS is a great deal and works out to $11.11 per movie, which with all the extras included, was the perfect price for me. Now I just gotta grab Rogue One 4K once it hits $20 and I'll be all set. Gonna start my marathon after work tonight. Gonna blast through it over my birthday weekend.

![]() Glad I bought it this way versus indivdiual titles. If it wasnt for those STUPID disc sleeves the set would have been perfect and I might have even left the discs in there. Watched TPM last night. The 4K presentation was just decent but thats it. Yeah, its better than the blu-ray overall. But I still think it could have been better. But, it is what it is and Im still glad I own Star Wars in 4K. I hope the other movies are even better. It appears that TPM and AOTC are likely the worst of the bunch. Cant wait to watch the originals!!!! |

Obi-Wan wasn't super emptional. He was being logical and calm. As a Jedi should be.
Anakin was pissed cause Padme' was just shot/knocked out of the Republic Airship. I fail to see your issue with it. Last edited by Gold Ranger; 04-01-2020 at 07:53 PM. |

So I've gone through and compared the new Blu-ray's to the 2011 Blu-rays for Episodes 1, 4, 5, and 6. I do not have a 4K TV or Atmos. I have a calibrated 60 inch plasma and 5.2 sound. I had both discs playing at the same time on two different players, paused and watched various sections comparing the two releases of the films.
I will preface it to say that the DTS-HD MA 6.1 audio on the 2011 Blu-ray's absolutely smacks the shit out of the DTS-HD MA 7.1 on the Disney Blu-ray's. In every conceivable way, the 2011 mixes are so much more dynamic, enveloping, and authoritative. The Disney releases aren't as bad as stuff like Ultron or Black Panther, but they definitely feel limited in dynamic range. With Episode 1, I generally couldn't find much difference in PQ, aside from it looked like the DNR seemed a little more intense on the Disney release. The 2011 Blu-ray seemed a hair more natural. I just skipped comparing Episode 2 and 3 since I can't imagine there being much difference given how they were shot. With Episodes 4, 5, and 6 is where things get kind of problematic. In some instances and scenes, I prefer the color and contrast on the Disney release. I like how clean they typically look, but there's just as many instances where the image looks washed out, lacking in proper color saturation. On the Disney release, Hoth looks more beige and almost warm, when it should look cold with whites and blues, like the 2011 disc. Tatooine in ROTJ doesn't look warm, but washed out. And wow, did Disney just slather on the DNR with these releases. Hair, fog, smoke, and even the puppets have much more detail on the 2011 releases. Jabba, for instance, has much more detail on the 2011 disc. I can see the wrinkles in the rubber puppet. On the Disney, it just looks soft and smudgy. During those instances on the Disney release, it just becomes a smeary mess, complete with frozen grain. The 2011 Blu-ray's are not perfect and might be a bit noisy at times, but there's not much DNR and in general, I prefer the overall look of them. Add that with the vastly superior DTS-HD MA 6.1 audio and I think I'm just going to stick with those versions when I view them. The 4K discs might be different, but given that I've heard people complaining about DNR on those releases as well, I can't imagine them looking much different. As an aside, I see he's running them in 60p. Does no-one actually like 24p these days? |

Maybe if you put your phone down and watched the prequels and actually tried to understand them, you would like them. Let go of your preconceived haltered and embrace your inner child. All 6 Star Wars movies are/were made for kids. The Sequels were made for pretentious adults. |

My TCL 5 series and the 24 FPS setting on the Sony don’t seem to look right - gets kinda motion smooth-ish. I haven’t run it in a while though, so I’m not sure if firmware updates fixed it.

Okay, I'm convinced that you were never a kid or have ever been around any. Kids yell "Yippee" when excited. They also yell other things as well.

The TCLs don’t really do 24fps that well on disc. Trust me, I’ve tried with multiple players with my TCL.
