On a side not, with reference to TWOK, personally, I really dislike the Dir Cut. For me, much of the newly inserted scenes interrupt the flow, despite the Scotty scene added explaining the overly emotional scene later when Peter Preston dies, regardless, I still prefer it without.

Thankfully, the BR of Trek 2 allows you to watch both. All special editions should be like this. Star Trek TOS, Aliens, ET all managed it, and I'm sure there are others, I just wish they were all like it. Imagine the 20 disc special edition of Star Wars (just ep4) that would be needed for all the different versions, dating right back to pre- A New Hope star wars! Sorry for straying off topic.

Don't apologise, for ye speaketh the truth. If we were to get the theatrical and director's editions for the relevant Trek films then we'd all go home happy and it should be really be the default position of every studio to offer that choice.
