I Wake Up Screaming is a pretty prestigious noir title, and it features the great Laird Cregar in one of his precious few major roles.
The other two are barrel-scrapers. Last edited by SeanJoyce; 05-24-2020 at 07:36 PM. |

Cover Up is okay. It has a Christmas setting, which makes it unique. For $6.99, it's worth picking up and watching once. |

[Show spoiler] As far I know, it's the only Blu of the film officially licensed from MGM and I believe uses the same HD master that was used for the MGM DVD. |

What's the consensus on the Noir Archive releases by Kit Parker Films?
https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Noir-...lu-ray/226593/ https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Noir-...lu-ray/239545/ https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Noir-...lu-ray/247944/ Looks like get a lot of movies for the price, but I'm guessing there's a reason for that. |

The reason it's a lot of movie for the price is because most of the films are second and third string noirs, or thrillers. A lot of the films really aren't noir. I have all 3 sets, and honestly, probably only 5 of the films have replay value for me (The Long Haul, Address Unknown, The Lineup, The Crimson Kimono and The Shadow in the Window). Admittedly, I haven't seen every film out of the 27 yet. I've seen about 20 of them so far, so perhaps there are a few hidden little gems in the remaining films for me. I do recommend the sets—especially if you can get them for around $30 or so. And you can do that now on http://www.deepdiscount.com - they're $30.23 each, but there's also a 15% off coupon (FLOWERS) which bumps the price down to $25.69 (+tax) and free shipping— that's like $3.10 per film, approximately. |

I would add that The Crimson Kimono transfer in one of those sets is the worst on the market - like the UK Indicator disc it has very, very low sound and the encode is noticeably worse. Twilight Time's release is the only one with decent sound as well as picture.
Most of the other transfers are more than acceptable. |

I think the Olive version is missing the final shot, isn’t it? Granted, it’s just a few seconds, but I stuck with my KINO Blu because of that. I found it to be perfectly watchable. YMMV

Missing shot? If so, I have some reading up on the different versions to do.

Here is a review:
