I honestly thought the music in the second movie was the best out of all three. The whole Zion battle and Smith vs Neo music came in second and third. |

One of the things that seemed to piss off the general public about the Matrix sequels was that they released both of them in the same year, within a space of less than six months. Apparently, that kind of thing has the potential to rub people the wrong way.
Too bad the Star Wars franchise wasn't paying attention. |

![]() The ONLY possible legitimate reason would be that they only go to the theatre ONCE PER CALENDAR YEAR and would have to miss one of the films as a result. And so, you can see where even that legitimate reason is still purely ![]() They could have opened them together on the same weekend and I wouldn’t have been pissed. I would have been broke, but not pissed! I saw Reloaded 8 times in the first 7 days that it was screening. I would have had to see Revolutions 8 times in the first 7 days as well! ![]() Last edited by Petra_Kalbrain; 02-18-2019 at 09:10 PM. |

I couldn't decide whether to vote for option 2 or option 3, though I went with 3 in the end. I think Revolutions is a tad disappointing, but the trilogy to me is still a tremendous achievement. I could never understand the poor general reaction to Reloaded when it was faster paced and more action packed than the first film. There are times when I think I prefer it. I guess the Architect's speech annoyed many because he says some not-that-complicated information in a very complicated fashion....the Wachowski's at their oddest and most subversive. Personally I love 'em, and think Cloud Atlas is possibly even better than the Matrix trilogy.

Personally loved the first and Reloaded imo had a problem of where action didn't really blend in with the story as well as the first and Revolutions by the end was a mess. I just don't think they really went down the right method shall we say of finishing the sequels story because it seemed to get pegged back in keeping your interest as well as the first.
If there was going to be a sequel written for the first Matrix, in my mind i would have found a way to keep it moreso in the Matrix and the fight to help free more trapped minds and concentrate on the Machines pushing back in new ways and set up a war for the real world as a teaser at the end. Then find a way to bridge the 3rd movie as a peace agreement being reached. Ultimately the same destination by the end but the journey would have been kuch different. I think Smith would have operated differently too in the way i would potentially have set up the story for a sequel than a self replicating virus shouting "Me, Me, Me" and causing a massive issue of having to arrange all those physical and CGI doubles. Instead maybe having the machines bring back a backup copy with all the hate of Smith in an upgraded form. Like Serpah for example who is a machine programme but appears to have overcome Agents in the past. Perhaps even showing off his character and journey to becoming the guardian of the Oracle a little more. |

After that quote he really says what he thinks about the sequels.
In his heart he didn't like them. There was less freedom, they wanted to go a different direction. Starts at timecode: 36.00. https://teamdeakins.libsyn.com/bill-pope |

The Matrix Reloaded and Revolutions seem about as far from being influenced by the studio as possible as far big budget movies go.
