Yes!!!! Yes you can!

The difference in this case is that the TrueHD is full resolution DVD-Audio quality.
The PCM is 24/48, so it will still be amazing, but the 24/96 is likely the source resolution level, so the TrueHD is the full lossless high resolution track.

If you've got your PS3 hooked up via HDMI for audio then you can listen to either. Just have your PS3 set to "bitstream" and away you go - go into audio options and select either.

Give them both a whirl, but I believe the 24/96 will come out tops.

Pearl Jam shot part of their Italian tour in hi def last September. Has anyone heard of a release to Blu for this? I was at all five shows and they were some of the best shows I have ever seen.

I would hope that SonyBMG will have a PJ Blu-ray out shortly.

They have so much in their musical catalogue that they could put out on Blu-ray for live shows and SACD for back catalogue remasters.

DMB and Pearl Jam remasters in 5.1 on SACD? I would buy every one of them.

With the type of rabid online communities they have too you know people would learn about the technology if it meant higher appreciation of their favourite artists.

No kidding. Pearl Jam and DMB have some of the most dedicated fan clubs around. Just look at the sales figures of their live shows (Pearl Jam put every show on bootleg and DMB lets you tape theirs). The hidden potential inside the music industry could be just as relevant as the movie industry when it comes to a decisive winner in the format war. Throw in Pink Floyd, Chili Peppers, My Morning Jacket, etc. and you have yourself a nice little chunk of the entertainment market on your format, with no chance of exclusivity among them.

Looks like Dave and Tim on Blu-ray is pretty much perfect, getting 5/5 for picture quality and 5/5 for audio quality on High Def Digest.

http://bluray.highdefdigest.com/964/...radiocity.html

Quote:
The Video: Sizing Up the Picture

Sony BMG has certainly rolled out the red carpet for 'Dave Matthews & Tim Reynolds: Live at Radio City,' giving the release the two-disc treatment. The entire 168-minute show is included on the first disc, which is BD-50 dual-layer, while the supplements get a second platter all their own. The generous treatment really pays off, as this 1080p/VC-1 encode looks terrific.

'Live at Radio City' was quite an elaborately-filmed event, captured with nine high-def cameras. It's top tier when it comes to shot-on-HD source material, with fantastic clarity and detail to the image. From close-ups to wide shots, the image is always razor sharp, and depth is palpable. Color reproduction is perfect, with the vibrant but restrained lighting washing the stage in warm oranges and reds, and more striking purples and blues. Hues never falter, with no noise or other impurities. Blacks and contrast are also spot-on -- the presentation looks slick and glossy but still natural, while shadow delineation is top drawer. There are also no compression artifacts to speak of. Dave Matthews fans rejoice -- this is a first-class, five-star transfer.

The Audio: Rating the Sound

As great as the video is, the audio is perhaps even more impressive. Sony BMG offers an uncompressed PCM 2.0 Stereo mix (48kHz/24-bit), and -- in a first for the music label -- a Dolby TrueHD 5.1 Surround track at a hefty 96kHz/24-bit. As terrific as the PCM track is, I have to give the TrueHD mix the nod -- simply put, it's pitch perfect. (Note there is also a Dolby Digital 5.1 mix at a lowly 640kbps, but why would you want to listen to that?)

What dazzles the most is the transparent clarity of the presentation. The amazing, diverse sounds Dave Matthews and particularly Tim Reynolds are able to create with just a pair of acoustic guitars (and a few foot pedal-fueled effects) are as breathtaking as the sense of realism and purity to the TrueHD track. It truly feels as if sounds are simply hanging in the air, floating dreamlike, rather than emanating from a set of speakers. I couldn't even pinpoint their location in the soundfield, so transparent is the effect of one expansive wall of sound from the front stage, just as it would be if you were at the show yourself. Dynamics are terrific, too -- from the ultra-tight low tones with the warm, spacious highs, this is as good as it gets. The concert is also expertly balanced, with Matthews' vocals crystal clear and never fighting for dominance with the instrumentation or the crowd.

In comparing the discs two showcase tracks, in terms of envelopment there's surprisingly little perceivable difference between the PCM 2.0 Stereo and the TrueHD 5.1 Surround tracks. Perhaps its because the crowd is so subdued during this quiet show that the mix is almost entirely front and center. Having said that, I would still choose the TrueHD track, because its higher bitrate pays noticeable dividends in sounds quality. To be sure, neither track is a slouch, but the TrueHD is without a doubt the best audio presentation I've yet heard on a next-gen release. I mean it -- it's that good.
That's a pretty bold statement - I can't wait to hear it.

The best audio so far of ANY high def disc.

Default Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds Live at Radio City leaves HD-DVD dreaming

Link:

http://www.hometheaterspot.com/fusio...hp?tid/138589/

Quote:
"As much as I love what the Blu-ray movies, its potential with concerts
almost gets me even more excited. And this one is
more my speed."

"The high def photography is well cared for by a VC-1 encoding that pushes bitrates higher than Microsoft has
claimed to be sufficient with HD DVD, accommodated by 50GBs of space. Based on the PS3s internal clock,
the variable bitrate hovered in the neighborhood of 20 mbps, sometimes higher, sometimes lower"
"This concert was shot using nine HD cameras. And the
photography looks the part, more consistent with digital cameras than film in contrast and texture. The
footage from the cameras on stage looks absolutely terrific - often, as crisp as Destiny’s Child looked on Bluray."

MY quote and NOT CHAD review:

A real example is DEJA-VU and THE QUEEN using higher bit rate VC-1 ,just to inform HD-DUD fans who still believes in a losing format called HD-DUD.
So you should admit and confess that BD is better than yours.

Audio:

Quote from the site,

"Blu-ray has been taking our speakers to places they’ve never reached from DVD or HD DVD for that matter,
for over of a year. And despite an unusually long runtime, this concert doesn’t have to skimp on the sound.
In fact it pushes past even what Sony Pictures has done with up to 20bit/48kHz TrueHD and Disney has with
up to 24 bit/48kHz PCM. The concert does include a 24 bit/48kHz PCM stereo track and the usual 640kbps
DD 5.1. But what’s really exciting is the inclusion of 24bit/96kHz TrueHD."

My Quote:
SO MY BLU-RAY FANS what we can expect from here and on Spiderman Trilogy releases this coming October will be 24bit/48khz ,Let's not Forget mostly releases done so far by BUENA VISTA or Disney.

AND STILL CAN I HEAR HD-DUD telling me they have a better format!

Plus it is only $19.99 on Amazon.

Definitely a reference disc and Dave and Tim are nothing at all like DMB.

Default Dave Matthews Radio City- Best BD audio so far??

I have had my copy since it came out and finally was able to listen to it. Note, I said listen to it. The video side of the 2 disc BD was great, but the audio was about as good as I have heard from any BD. If you are not a DM fan, then this will not mean much to you. But if you are a music fan, let alone a DM fan, this is easily the best production I have ever seen/heard. The best audio track is a very rare and fantastic mix of 96/24 Dolby TrueHD. This blows away any TrueHD track I have heard yet on any BD. The bitrate topped out at around 9!! on the PS3. I have never seen such quality audio on any track. I guess when DTS-MA is decoded or can be bitstreamed, it can top out at 15mbps. But I literally felt like I was in Radio City. The audio was unbelievably real. Even at a very high volume, it was still crystal clear. I would almost consider this an audio demo disc for BD players etting up their home theater. A 2 disc BD for $25. Well worth the money..

well this is pretty much the equivalent of a DVD AUDIO from the group, TrueHD is MLP (same that DVD audio used) and Acoustic music really benifit from being recorded at 96khz,24bits..

DTS can max out at 24.5 Mbps, but it's doubtful we'll see that anytime in the next few years.

This is DVD-A quality and it's about time we got some Dave Matthews in this level as the band has yet to support hirez audio, fortunately it came with a 1080p video too.

Great show. Loved Bartender, Eh Hee, So Damn Lucky, #41, Two Step and pretty much the whole frikkin show actually. Tim's solo in The Maker is chillingly good.
