The 2.0 mix like a lot of mid 90's WB tracks weirdly has better mixed presence in the surround despite it being mono and a better low end. While the clarity takes a hit this does negate a lot of the audible noise in the ADR and makes it much less obvious. Now there's finally talk about officially releasing the longer version: https://variety.com/2020/film/news/b...er-1234697441/ This has made it to a number of sites and there's a twitter movement starting but of course without any of the Snyder cut fanfare. According to the sources the cut actually exists in the vaults at 170 min and WB doesn't know if there's demand to release it. There has been since they teased it back in 2005 darn it. ![]() My petition is now a year old and has almost 400 signatures. https://www.change.org/p/warner-brot...batman-forever Personally I would think that it would have been released as intended at 2 hr 15 up to 2 hr 30 depending on the shooting script and final cut before Warner had their way with it cutting down to 122 min and restructuring the opening. But at least there's something to work with and it could easily be a Warner Archive release if they don't do a Donner Cut style standalone. All it needs is a new scan, color timing, sound polish and you could even integrate the footage into the 4K theatrical master since that's already done. |

1989 film on 4K blew me away. I wasn't old enough to see it in theaters so to me it's always been this just awful looking movie. New disc is revelatory (and the complaints about overuse of blue are silly).
I couldn't help but take this with my iPhone. ![]() Last edited by mansardroof122; 08-04-2020 at 03:45 AM. |

Just got the first film and it looks really good, as others have noted.
I did notice the new sound effects, but I think I can live with it , maybe. Anyway, I am always surprised at the prostitute who addresses the small boy at the beginning. This sure isn’t a children’s film! |

I can't find the HD/UHD combo set at my local Best Buy. I emailed them, but they said :

I can't say I like Batman&Robin better than Batman Forever, as I find both to be pretty bad films overall, as I completely dislike Schumacher's campy acid-trip style choices. I guess you can argue that B&R doesn't suffer an identity crisis the way Forever does, as Forever is an inconsistent mish-mash of Burton's darker sensibility and the goofier cartoony tone Schumacher would go all-in with in B&R. Both films were disappointments to me back in the day.
I can view both films now with a bit more interest in retrospect, since they're now more of a time-capsule of the comic book sensibilities of the mid-late nineties, and not a ruination of the Batman film franchise. But as far as tongue-in-cheek campy takes on Batman go, I find the Adam West Batman: The Movie to be far superior to either of the Schumacher films. |

Warner has been acting really odd with their 4K's recently. Most have no Dolby Vision (Full Metal Jacket, Goonies, Beetlejuice) and some of their earlier catalog titles like Goodfellas (which is now $37!) and Batman V Superman had fallen out of print.

There's probably a slight edge to the disc but nothing noticable. I'm not the biggest expert though. I've just always understood that nothing really beats the disc. Although if you own it digitially, there's no actual streaming involved, correct? So there may be no difference at all. I'm sure someone else will chime in and set you straight.
