I'm appalled at the amount of money I wasted chasing sound quality when I was younger. I was an audiophile, and my wallet suffered for it.
Today I have a DTS 5.1 system that's nearly a decade old, and unless I were to place a lossless audio system next to it I would never know I was missing anything. Sure I could tell the difference if I A/B'd them with an instant switch, but that difference doesn't mean DTS doesn't sound great. It sounds awesome. That's why my marching orders to friends who are buying new systems is, "Buy decent speakers, and whatever amp you can comfortably afford, and don't sweat the difference." |
