Dammit, I splurged!!!
![]() ![]() ![]() On their way to my house as of right now. Thanks Pops for the link to the spike bases from eBay. I've decided to not build a riser, but keep the SubDude HD as it is, for my Dynamo, not for my AA Sub10 - thinking about it, adding a 12" riser wouldn't fit into my OCD'd "JJAF". ![]() |

Well, I finally did it and put the legs on my sub decoupler to make it a riser. I have pics in my gallery (pics #2 and #3), as I cannot figure out how you guys attach pics within your posts, I am a little confused on this.... The sub now sits 9" inches above the ceramic tile floor and I have attached small solid foam isolators under each leg to further decouple the riser from the floor. Anyway, I have yet to listen to anything, but I was inspired by Big Daddy, jomari, liquidice, aramis, crazyblue and a few others to get this done, thanks guys for all of your help!! Let me know what you guys think....

![]() To attach a picture to a post, you have two options. Option 1. Let us assume you have a picture at the following internet site. This is the address: htttp://www.forsberg.com/myPicture.jpg. Note that I intentionally misspelled http. Otherwise, the stupid editor interprets it as a real web site. To put this picture inside your post, all you have to do is include the following statement: htttp://www.forsberg.com/myPicture.jpg Note that I inserted the spaces after the IMG statement to make sure the editor does not interpret the statement as a real picture. You normally do not put the spaces there. Option 2. Let us assume there is a picture on your computer called, forsberg.jpg. Go to the end of your post after your signature. You will see an option called MANAGE ATTACHMENTS. Click on it and identify the location of the picture on your computer and upload it. There are limits to the sizes of the picture files and at most you can upload 5 pictures. You must reduce the sizes of the files with a picture editor program. After the picture is successfully uploaded, go to the PAPER CLIP icon on top and put the picture anywhere in your post. |

I could use the same foam I purchased previously, which is the kind of foam used on the floor of an exercise room. Do you think putting this under the riser would have the effect I would want?

Use a little glue and attach it to the bottom. You can also cover it with carpet.

OK, I am trying to see if I can finally figure out how to attach a pic to a post, and I think I got it, thanks to Big Daddy's info. So, I have attached some pics of the riser I built below. As Big Daddy also suggested, I used some of the foam I had remaining and attached it the bottom of the riser to help dampen it better. The middle pic is the only one that will show it, but if you look closely you will see it. The sound is better and noticeable, and I can't believe how easy it really is to do! Thanks again to all who provided information and advice!

That's what I'd ask before answering your question. If the 6" Risers do the trick, and You notice Sound Improvement from what it was, then that's all that matters - right? Sure you can experiment with a few more inches IF you want, but to me it looks like you should be good to go. As many here would say, We're not in your room, we don't have your ears, etc. My temp. risers right now are at about 2" but they sound better than when they were on the floor (carpet), though I plan to raise em' up a bit more with a SubDude for the Main one on my Front sound stage at least.

If you notice a big improvement in bass response with 6" legs, you are in good shape. Theoretically, if your ceiling is 8ft high, you can go up to 2 feet. However, when you raise it that high, you should really fill the gap under the riser with dampening foam. Take a look at these SubTraps from ASC.
18” SubTrap (50 Hz) Standard, most Subwoofers: $469 22” SubTrap (30 Hz) Large Subwoofer: $586 http://www.asc-home-theater.com/subtrap.htm |

another quick option too would be to get some legs for your sub. You could go all out like crazyBLUE, but that kid is nuts!!! Just kidding really, but a couple inches for the sub itself is a good idea. I'll be doing that with my 12" soon, as soon as I can find something I like...it's all about the looks for me.
