I do love THE MANDALORIAN, but for the first time I've been inserting it into my current Saga viewing ('cuz the gig I'm on "pushed" a week due to a small Covid outbreak among the crew, and I've had VERY little to do for the last seven days), and I've gotta say: now that I'm approaching the end of THE MANDALORIAN portion of my marathon, I'm really looking forward to things "taking off again" with FORCE AWAKENS. And again... to be extra extra clear... this doesn't mean I don't like THE MANDALORIAN; I really dig it, and I feel very fortunate to spend as much time in the STAR WARS universe as possible... but I do not feel that palpable "big event" excitement for Mando that I get with the feature films -- no matter how many times I've seen 'em.

Can't quite put my finger on "why", but I do know for a fact that John Williams has something to do with it. I appreciate THE MANDALORIAN score, but it doesn't "do" anything for me. In contrast, when I'm watching one of the features, I'm always looking forward to the next epic music cue.
The films are also "it" for me too. I tried watching the Clone Wars between EP2 and EP3 which is where they'd fall in the timeline and it just didnt work. I hear ya!

KK made it clear that it would not be happening, out of respect to GL. Disney-owned Lucasfilm has also recanted the GL-owned Lucasfilm statement of "Those versions were destroyed and the footage lost to time, when we did the SE cuts." and says they have the SE replaced/trimmed film elements in the archives. Whichever one is true, we don't really know and nobody outside of Disney and Lucasfilm knows the truth, whatever it is.

I think it's hilarious that seven seasons worth of stuff now happens between II and III. Genndy's series mostly worked for me. I never did try the CG show, because I don't care for the art style.

A good point. A large quantity of TCW animated show has nothing to really do with anything and is just filler for lack of a better term. Ahsoka and some of the Grevious stuff is the most interesting, IMO. Its quite skippable though, IMO.

I don't really mean to get into canon nitpicking, more just saying as a film RotJ had a great air of finality to it, while RoS to me does not. Like oh he exploded again, okay I guess.

Palpatine/Sidious's consciousness actually fled across the galaxy to Exegol itself, where the cloning-facilities were located, and he "installed" himself in a brand-new, if slightly defective, body (the canon novelization of The Rise of Skywalker gets into a bit more detail on this).

This info should've been in the film.

That’s crazy if true. No reason they can’t release both.

Besides they promised GL they’d use his ideas for the sequels then they didn’t. So I doubt they really care about his feelings if money is to be made.

I just need an HD version where Jason Wingreen still voices Boba.

That and a whole lot of other stuff. Its just sad that this is what our final installment of the Nine-film saga ended up being. Or should I say SIX film saga? Maybe Seven with Rogue One.

Or, if there had been even a tiny hint that this was going to occur in Last Jedi or even Force Awakens it would have been more buy-able. Still stupid but at least we'd have been more prepped. We went in knowing Palpy died at the end of EP6. A force Ghost or some other appearance like that would have been fine or even welcomed. When his laugh first appeared in the trailer, thats what I expected they were going to do.

IMO there's a lot of advantages to Clone Wars that adds a lot more resonance to Episode III and really the whole "prequel" era of Star Wars. So much context was missing from the movies by themselves, including a lot of Anakin's characterization, and general state of the Republic growing weary of the war and starting to distrust the Jedi, stuff like that. Also, the whole Obi Wan vs. General Grevious element of III has much more weight to it because they actually feel like old rivals.

BUT.... At the same time, it's a lot of show, there are a lot of self-contained filler episodes and arcs, and the show gets off to a lackluster start from the lousy "movie" and some of the early episodes.

She said that there wouldn’t be further changes to the versions that already exist. Nothing was said about the original versions. Not that this is evidence that they’ll release them though. I wish that reporter had asked her flat out if they’ll ever release the original versions. I just want to hear what she’d say to that.

That’s how I feel about the entire first season. Completely skippable. I’ve been told season 3 is when it starts to get good so I’m slogging through season 2 at the moment.

Yeah season 1 and 2 aren't as good as the others, but they're still solid.

Season 3 onwards on the other hand, is some of the best Star Wars content ever created imo.

Yes, there is some great stuff in there but with seven seasons you have to wade through the fluff. The good thing is that there are plenty of episode plans and guides as to which ones are required viewing, which are optional and which are skippable completely. I’ve used those lists before and it cuts out about half the episodes out but that’s OK. You get the "meat" and that’s it!

Yes, some pivotal moments for sure. It just needs to be condensed.

I don't know man, the whole trilogy is extremely frustrating. I love parts of all three, I hate parts of all three, but most importantly it's just a jumble of unplanned ideas. I know Star Wars fans love to debate the particulars, which is better and how this moment compares to that one, but honestly when the finished product has such a lack of cohesive throughput, I don't think it's worth bothering.

Sadly I think they deliberately try to grant interviews with people who don’t press the subject. They just wanna sell you whatever they’re selling you at the time and just wanna leave it at that. The dude interviewing her clearly knew it was basically a taboo subject and tried to word the question in a way that wasn’t breaching much.

He can still come back though, they can just say he transferred his consciousness somewhere else again. So the ending feels like “oh, he’s dead again, for now”. I don’t think they should’ve opened this can of worms.

I like THE FORCE AWAKENS - a lot actually - but its lack of interest in being anything other than "More Star Wars, Forget Those Nasty Prequels" significantly hurt Disney Star Wars. It also doomed the series' launch in emerging markets, as a movie that is 100% about nostalgia probably isn't going to be terribly effective for people who don't cream themselves over earlier movies.

The truth is, we'll never know what could've come from THE LAST JEDI because Disney ran away from it. But nothing else in modern Star Wars, on film or on television, has compared to how I felt seeing Emperor 2.0 getting vivisected halfway through the middle movie of a trilogy, or Luke Skywalker reuniting with the Force.
Yeah, I've said the same thing ad nauseum re: the total and utter lack of world building in TFA. If it was something that hurt the actual storytelling of that movie - and it did IMO because nostalgia is simply not enough, I dunno if I'll ever warm to it - it devastates the storytelling of the films that follow because they've got almost nothing to go on. And the one major thing they do have, Luke going AWOL, was taken to the nth degree by the person who made the next film and caused a backlash unlike nothing I've ever seen in Star Wars fandom. Just....meh, they're not worth all this.

At least the prequels have all that metaphor and subtext going on amongst the tin-eared dialogue and farting CG animals, they're smart movies dumbly made whereas the sequels are dumb movies smartly made, mostly, as the only one of the three that dared to have a social conscience was dismissed as a pandering SJW mouthpiece.
