They are both equally artistic film productions. You don't need a degree in film to make that observation.

They are equal movies but not equal visually.

You are contending that Heat is less visually artistic than Gattaca, and by that stunningly faulty conclusion, are saying Heat is not worthy of a purchase on UHD.

How far does that thinking (or lack of it) extend? Should we only watch Heat on VHS?

I have never said not to buy Heat on 4K. I said I won’t be buying it.

Hopefully, Michael Mann's "The Insider" and "The Last of the Mohicans" get potential UHD 4K releases down-the-line.

Gattaca has aged really badly. Heat on the other hand is still as good as the day it was made, also has incredible sound

The shootout in particular is still the gold standard audio-wise even after all this time ..

I'm not very into atmos mixes but the verticality should be interesting for all those high up in the skyscrapers gun reverbs

Then we will rely on you when a new 4K title gets announced. Just tell us when you buy a new blu-ray and we'll assume the 4K will be announced the same day or close.

Just read about this release, fantastic news!!! I had already given up the possibility of more Fox films on 4K hahaha

By the way, I wasn't aware that the Warner and Fox blu-ray releases of "Heat" weren't the same, so I look it up on caps-a-holic. It looks like I'm in the minority here, but the Fox release looks better in my opinion:

https://caps-a-holic.com/c.php?go=1&...=94768&i=8&l=0

Could you guys explain me why you prefer the Warner release? Is it because it is the original theatrical version?

Gattaca does show it's age visually. I can still appreciate it though.

How anyone can say Heat isn't artistic film when there's a bloody replica of The Pieta smack bang right in front of the camera during the opening baffles me.

How many more times are you going to make up things I never said?

Well most significantly, Gattaca is a much more visually beautiful movie than either of those two. In Heat’s case, we already have a Director’s Definitive Edition. That probably won’t look as good as the 4K, but it definitely reduces the value IMO. As for Speed, I’m just not convinced we’ll get a tonne more out of the picture quality. Twister would have made more sense.
I don't even think Slawomir Idziak would himself even say Gattaca was more "beautiful" than Heat . And I'd say he is a better cinematographer than Spinotti just on Three Colours Blue alone.

Yeah that’s me saying Gattaca is MORE beautiful, not that Heat isn’t.

Ok Mr. show me where you have the Laserdisc and the Remastered Heat with the 5.1 DTS-MA and the current date on your phone calendar and your 5.1 speakers TV and players and that you say what you claim. You can see in my post some of my speakers, TV, both discs, and what I'm playing it on. Nothing expensive. Budget 5.1 really. Anyway The DTS track spits out 4.6MBPS on audio consistently alone. Laserdisc is limited and NOT LOSSLESS buddy. Show me you even have both the discs and 5.1 you brag about, with something to watch them all on and I would be shocked with that LOL. You don't , and you're a joke. I'll give you a few days, and then I'm done proving my point. Maybe your troll squad can hook u up LOL! You probably got a LD and some junk. Hilarious. The only way you can get it louder would be with tons of watts and amps, and a huge sub with Laserdisc...who cares you can do the same with the DTS-MA and bigger speakers and amp and sub and it will sounds better. Even if the SUb is of similar quality the Center and surrounds won't be able to match the DTS_MA of the disc. .1 LOL. The DTS-MA is the best out of all discs currently available for the complete 5.1 package. Clutch onto your Laserdiscs bro enjoy the .1 fidelity that's not better because its LOSSLESS at best it could be similar. Peace. I do appreciate your group trolling me. Thanks for that.

Lossless means shit if the dynamic range has been removed through remixing and excessive filtering. Basic logic here.

I want to believe Disney will do a great job, but seeing how they lazily restored the original Star Wars trilogy with DNR does not give me hope.

I thought Home Alone was pretty lacklustre on UHD, too. Very relieved I got that one extra cheap.

I’m curious how they handle it. That shootout sounds so unique because they used the production gun fire recorded on location....unheard of. That natural verb is gnarly. I wonder if they had mics set up other than the boom.

I feel like slapping an atmos verb on top of what they got on set might just detract. We shall see!
