Dear Network,

No you have not “shipped” my order, you’ve posted it. No ships are required in this process.

Very impressed my 4 Network parcels just arrived. Royal Mail 1st Class.
Split my 14 titles across 4 orders to avoid shipping.

Always think it’s daft that Network is the one retailer that gives free shipping on small orders but charges postage on large ones. Think this is because small orders come Royal Mail untracked, whereas find their large ones come TNT tracked which must be more expensive.

However not sure 4 smaller packages is cheaper for them than one big parcel.

If their website technology is any indication, they may still use barges and canals. And, quite possibly, horse and cart.

Got a despatch email yesterday - my order came today.

I was thinking Wednesday or Thursday for arrival.

Update: I got a slew of emails from Network this morning saying they had manually processed my order. They assigned an order number and sent out the order details. One of the emails was to explain the invoices showed the non-sale prices, but I wouldn't be charged anything additional.

The order now shows up in my Order History at the non-sale prices with a status of Payment Processed.

Captain Scarlet is on back order...

When I contacted them via the (now working) web site, I got this canned email shortly afterwards:

Sadly, one of the ones I ordered is no longer in stock (Captain Scarlet), so we'll see what happens...

I've never understood why they say "shipped" for anything that gets dispatched or posted. When I order black & white films and chemicals for developing them, I order directly from the manufacturers (Harman Technology) in Mobberley, Cheshire. Every order I place, I get an e-mail notification telling me it's being prepared for "shipping" and another e-mail saying it has "shipped"..........and the place is only 10 miles down the road from where I live!

All my sale items arrived today! Impressed by that turnaround. Forgot that The Man Who Haunted Himself comes in a slim DVD case but oh well, I guess they have yet to reissue that one in Blu-ray packaging.

I know I made a joke about it earlier, but variations of the word came into common usage in the 16th century when waterways were still the preferred means of transporting goods the majority of their journey and got carried over to railways and road freight as a catch all term (just as the word 'rode' was carried over anachronistically to railway journeys even though no-one literally 'rode the railroad'). Dispatch traditionally meant sent with maximum haste and no delay which, let's face it, has always been a bit optimistic with the post.

Does anyone else find Eureka's "Your Eureka order has been despatched" - with the ye olde spelling "despatch" - vaguely annoying?

OK, I'm bored.

No, because they've never given me the opportunity to be annoyed by actually sending me one in the first place. And there's nothing wrong with "despatch" either, the unAmericanised form I still use today; though if Eureka were to honour me with an actual confirmation I'd probably settle for "duspatch" out of sheer gratitude....

And you think you're bored? HA!

Albeit I do own a few of their releases, I'm not familiar with the Network site. How often do they have these sales? What's their shipping rates to EU?

That's certainly the case with Network. Judging by the many comments here, it seems you're lucky when you are able to buy titles from them in the first place, let alone waiting for your order to be dispatched - or rather "shipped".

Join the club.

Two copies each of Robin of Sherwood and Hammer House of Horror arrived about an hour ago, but there's no sign of the two Captain Scarlet sets that were supposedly sent.

Seance on a Wet Afternoon -

not mentioned on the back cover is a commentary with writer/director Bryan Forbes and actress Nanette Newman - they used to be married (didn't know that). He died in 2013.

They were married for decades and BBC presenter Emma Forbes (big in the 90s, out of sight for a decade or more) is their daughter. Nanette Newman is in many/most of his films.

Well, despite being one of the first to actually manage to place an order, at 19:20 on Thursday, I only got a partial shipping notice today despite everything being in stock when ordered. I'm in no great hurry since my to watch towers acquired several new storeys last week, but it took several days to even just confirm they had received the order (the entry on my order history page was somewhat cryptic: I didn't even know if the order was in process until Monday), so their system is pretty inconsistent and overdue for an overhaul to say the least.
