I am not technically savvy like some of you guys. WTH is aliasing? What does it look like? How much worse is it on the DE release than the US version?

I had been waiting for a single disc release of BLOODSPORT and noticed just now about this one and the HK release. Both are from MGM so I'd assume them to be the same. Looking at the Caps-A-Holic comparison, it looks like the MGM is one of those early Warner interlaced transfers like FMJ, ETD, LW2, FUGITIVE, etc.

Disappointing, but I think the colors look better on the older flawed transfer...again. I felt this way about LW2 and especially ETD.

I would still say US since the german has horrible antialising/jaggies. But if some company would just use the german master and fix that it would be really good. Wonder who owns the rights in europe.

MGM holds the European rights (not UK).

Then I guess the rights is up for grabs since 84 released this in 2014? https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Blood...lu-ray/108515/ Seems like same disc as MGM in 2013 though.

Always wanted a special edition of Bloodsport since it's a childhood favorite. It'd be cool to hear a commentary track with JCVD and Donald Gibb and/or new interviews, along with some of the other fighters from the movie. There was probably a whole lot of mystery around this at the time before internet. It was kind of like mma before there was mma, or at least one of the first major 'style vs style' mainstream exposure even in a fiction context, and the movie was probably a huge inspiration for many folks.

I actually thought the german disc was watchable but far from ideal. I could only notice the jaggies upon close inspection tbh

I'd love a definitive collectors edition release of this ala the Arrow Limited edition sets. I'd also love a box set of all the Kickboxer films but that's another battle all together.

I would drop $25 for a special edition blu of this and $35 for a good 4K...where is a definitive release of Van Damme's definitive film, and one of the all-time great American martial arts classics?

as a general rule i try to avoid double features, and i've certainly avoided this one. maybe if it were paired w/ Kickboxer that would be a different story

Are you disparaging Timecop? Because I will not let that pass.

Doesn't seem to be something Warner wants to invest the time and money on. The old double feature blu's over a decade old. I'd imagine there's a decent niche who would love a special edition from a boutique label, though it might be tough to license from WB. At the very least, a freshly scanned WAC single film release with high bitrate AVC would be nice. A uhd would of course be awesome.

Are they low pq or something? Why do you avoid them?

Also are they separate disks? I want to keep the extras (assuming the single disk has them.
