I always considered an iPhone but then I got a Blackberry. Never crossed my mind again. I have a touch but i would never play games on it.

I will however be buying a DSi soon.

it'd be quite crazy and very bold to try to pull that off. not sure it'd work either.

but either way, i don't think ea is going anywhere

Yeah, Apple would be served FAR more purchasing some of the smaller developers and getting them to go Mac only.

Or, if they made the iConsole. *LOL*

If Apple really wants to make a statement, they should get Starcraft II to be Mac exclusive.

Apples would become the number one computer for Korea after that.

Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter is highly skeptical of such talk, however. "Sounds retarded to me," he tells Gamasutra.

"Apple could buy Warner Music for around $3 billion, and control 20 percent of all recorded music," he says. "That makes more sense to their current business model than buying EA for more than twice that, doesn't it?"

"I don't want to start a rumor, but want to point out that Apple doesn't own any entertainment content," adds the analyst, "so I don't know why they would feel compelled to enter a new business unrelated to their current product slate."

Serious. There's a huge market there with everyone itching for D3 and SC2. SC2 alone will sell massive amounts of computers.

I still have a feeling D3 will go console.

There was a rumor because there was a developer diary that said the controls for D3 are the most console friendly they have ever made.

Activision/Blizzard would probably be even more expensive than EA, wouldn't it?

Starcraft 2 or Diablo 3 Mac Only would bomb in sales I believe. Apple would not recoup their losses of the Act/Blizz purchase and I don't believe all that many people would buy a Mac for said games. One of Blizzard's biggest selling points is that they aren't computer hogs, so people don't need to upgrade to play their games. Given that, how many people are going to rush out to buy a whole new (arguably) overpriced computer just to play said game?

I had to quit D2 cause I played too much. I would play still but I gave away my serial numbers to prevent me from coming back. I had a bot running my HDin nonstop with only a few breaks to prevent detection.

Because for most people portable gaming is just a way to pass time between activities. Not many people actually want to purchase a portable device just to game with. However, almost everyone has a cell phone... and many download games for their phones. When people discover the quantity, quality and variety of games that are available on a device they already carry around with them anyway...... why would they ever consider buying a separate device to carry around just to play games?

the problem they're going to see tho is the wii effect. gamers like myself aren't going to buy many of these tiny crappy games. will the general public (most wii owners) buy them like crazy? sure..but then what

I think the best move made next is that Nintendo is pushing the DSi to the 20+ crowd. It's going to be the best movie they made since releasing the Wii.

I will never get an iPhone. Expensive and I have a phone that does everything I want the best it can. Even though it's old it's one of the most reliable phones ever made. Good old Blackberry 8700.

If Apple released an affordable iPhone that was unlocked then maybe I would get one. But having to go through the app store makes it pointless. Some of the apps are kind of pointless also. Why do they need a FedEx tracking app when you can goto FedEx.com on the phone?

There are tons of great little time passers on the iPhone.. and really... that's what most people want in portable gaming. Not to mention the built in 3G that allows multiplayer gaming almost ANYWHERE. There are a whole host of MMORPG's that are HUGELY popular on the iphone. iMob was so popular that they just reskinned it into iVampires, iKnights, and Girl Wars and tons of people play all four. Then there are some great little puzzle games like CatchaMouse and ZenBound that are great fun. There are over 9,000 games already for the iPhone. Sure..... many of them ARE crap..... but don't for a moment kid yourself into thinking that some of them aren't pure gold.
